Can someone tell me why Taco Charlton is an LDE?

Just because you disagree doesn't make you correct. I really think he is more ideally a left defensive end personally. I hope he makes the grade as a right defensive end, because they are harder to find, but I am at least a little bit skeptical.

Actually a SDE that can rush the passer is much more difficult to find than a RDE. Just because teams put pluggers instead of pass rushers at SDE doesn't make dynamic ones easy to find.

Other than Bosa and Wake what other elite pass rushers man the strong side?

It's a lot more than just effort. Watt has 37" vertical, 4.69 40....outstanding broad jump and 3-cone. He's quick and fast and relentless. And I think his frame will easily permit 25-30 more pounds.

But the Cowboys have been drafting smart lately so we'll see. Maybe Taco will be another Terrell Suggs type player and I'd be delighted with that.

If Watt puts on the 30 lbs to match Taco's weight he isn't going to jump that high or run that fast.

He also does not have wide hips and shoulders that denote that he could do that "easily."

Suggs didn't test at the combine. He is a lazy comparison. He is also 15 lbs lighter than Taco.

If it was more important for the left end to be the passrushing specialist, why wouldn't they try their ends there first?

Personally I don't care who gets the pressure as long as they actually get home. I like Taco's size. I think bigger players are better than smaller players as a general rule in football. I have been campaigning for a mammoth DT too. I just worry that Taco doesn't have enough speed to be the right end. I hope I am wrong about that.

Yea, I don't think anybody should be taking what Broaddus says as gospel.

Broaddus said that Bosa was basically a JAG.................kinda hard to have any credibility left after that.

I'm not a Broadus fan boy, but what he said was he's not worth the number 4 pick, he said he was fine with him in the top 10... that's different than saying he's a Jag

It's there he has the speed, look at his 10 yrd split. You also see it in flashes and that damn spin is extremely quick. I don't know if he's pausing to read or what, but the explosion is there.... what bother me more is not finishing, getting in the backfield and not closing/finishing.... i need to watch more.
