Can the Cowboys keep Miles Austin?

Jerry is BSin because they still have enough to sign Ware even with T.O.'s cap hit. Ware's contract is not up this offseason!!!! He still has a yr left on his current deal and if T.O. is TRADED, he will not be flat out released, then T.O.'s cap hit of 9m will be on this upcoming yrs salary cap (2009-2010), not on the 2010-2011 Salary Cap when Ware will need to be signed. Unless I'm missing something, that's the scenario.

What you're missing is the Cowboys will in all likelyhood sign Ware this offseason/preseason before his contract ever runs out.

I understand that, but honestly why, when you don't have to? If T.O. is truly causing all these problems, it won't matter if Ware is resigned or not. The team will be F'ed up. Honestly, you have the next 2 yrs to resign Ware. They can Franchise him and then get that deal done. I'm a fan of Jerry's but he's BSin and he knows it. DeMarcus, will be the highest paid defensive linebacker and he will remain a Cowboy for the rest of his career. But we don't have to make him the highest paid linebacker this offseason.

I think the Cowboys let Austin go when they traded for Roy Williams. No way can a team tie up that much cap space in 4 WRs.

Your first problem was trying to think.

Austin will get the 2nd round RFA tag guaranteed

Now if the Titans want to part with a second rounder then they might get him

Crayton's cap figures are pretty reasonable. Austin wouldnt be much cap charge at all, especially if he signs a one yr deal only.

They probably have Owens for 1more yr at best, then his cap charge will be off the books.

This is not that hard to understand. If somebody wants Austin, they are going to have to give up a pretty high pick to get him. Ultimately it might be worth it to another team though, especially if he is tendered at a 2nd rd pick level. If a team came in with a substantial offer I doubt we'd match it. Otherwise he will definitely be here.

Crayton's contract is pretty small. And I don't see Austin really warranting a bigger contract than Crayton at this point in his career, since he's just now seeing the playing field. Between the two of them (Crayton and Austin) their cap hits wouldn't be half of Owens' cap hit.

I see no way they let Austin go unless he's injured more than we think or they're absolutely certain they have his replacement on the team. And we get a high pick for him.

He's a quality returner. Not elite but quality. And he appears to be a viable #2. Maybe even more.

Congrats on a great season Titans. Maybe you can give Fisher his SB.

We''l trade you Cup cake and Garrett for Fisher straight up:)

I'd cut bait with Crayton first. He is a "talker," and Roy11 could act as the possession receiver. Crayton is a reliable PR, but can't we upgrade that from within or draft a true specialist?

Miles Austin is one of the guys on my good list..if we let Him go I will personally slap jerry Jones.

Heres whats going to happen. IF Jerrah tries to go after mick shannahan, I'm sure shannahan is going to say that he will accept ONLY if T.O. is not part of the package; i.e. its either him or me.

If thats the case, we definitely should keep austin.

Even if shannahan doesn't come to the cowboys it owuld be stupid in my opinion if we didn't keep austin; I mean he has been our baby that we developed to this point why shouldn't we reap the benefits of the work?

In a way, Cowher implied the same thing, so that wouldn't surprise me at all. Both head coaches have enjoyed as close to full automony as possible in Denver and Pittsburgh, respectively.
