Fan = Fanatic

fanatic
(fuh-nat-ik)

noun
1. a person with an extreme and uncritical enthusiasm or zeal.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fanatic

"Zeal" is an awesome word. There is also an adjective - "zealless." (Even the forum's spell checker doesn't know it's a word!)

zealless

an earnest temper; may be enlightened (Num. 25:11-13; 2 Cor. 7:11; 9:2), or ignorant and misdirected (Rom. 10:2; Phil. 3:6).

Not that this describes anybody here, of course. :D

The Cowboys have only beaten Green Bay at Lambeau once and Washington is currently playing the best football of any team in the NFC East. Plus the Cowboys are 0-7 without Romo this season. Pretty bold to be giving them both those games when they've won only 3 games all season.

"the best football of any team in the NFC East"
did you watch the Giant / Wash game? They were both atrocious on both sides of the ball.

Green Bay is 2-4 their last 6, and should be 1-5 if not for the :00 no time remaining 70 yard hail mary to BARELY beat the 4-8 Detroit Lions!

I stand by my prediction... Cowboys will win out.

Of course, in fact, I'd like to lose the bet, I just don't think I will.

Not to start another rant, but we have to get the 'I'd like to lose' out of Cowboys fans vocabulary... although, I'm with you, that will be a good one (for you) to lose.

So, all three have a better record. That means they're better than us. We are not going to win 4 out of 5; put the bong down.

No, actually it doesn't. To have a 1 or 2 game better record, when they have been full strength, and we lost our top 5 in the NFL QB and our top 5 in the NFL receiver in the first 2 weeks of the season hardly says you are a better team... if they were "a better team" they would have already put the division away, and a 3-8 team would have no shot at winning the division over them. Again, We are the better team, and will prove that Monday night, and by winning the division. Oh, and you're right, we are not going to win 4 out of 5, we are going to win 5 out of 5!

You will not have much to say after we pound the skins Monday night... will save you a seat on the bandwagon.

Neither the Giants or Commanders looked good but can you name a team in the NFC East that's currently playing "better" than Washington? Do you think the Cowboys are playing better? LOL Regardless how Washington looked they got the win that put them in first place in the division. I said 3 weeks ago the schedule plays in their favor and they usually split with the Cowboys. Even last season with the Cowboys riding high and Washington's season in the toilet they beat us with Colt McCoy at QB. The Cowboys are coming off a butt whipping on Thanksgiving in a game they lost Romo for the season while Washington is coming off a big win that put them in first place. Not saying the Cowboys can't beat Washington but you're dreaming if you think they can win out with a backup QB they're 0-4 with this season. As for Green Bay they're struggling but the teams that have beaten them were able to get a pass rush on Rodgers something the Cowboys couldn't do in the playoffs last season despite Rodgers playing on one leg.

Rodgers has been forced into making uncharacteristic mistakes due to pressure but getting pressure is an area the Cowboys continue to struggle with as well as forcing turnovers. The Cowboys defense has had very little success against Rodgers because they can't get a pass rush on him. If you don't get pressure on him he'll shred you. Green Bay's hail mary win vs Detroit might be just what the Packers need to get back on track. The Cowboys are catching both Washington and Green Bay coming off big wins so it will be a tough chore for the Cowboys to win both. As long as Green Bay has Rodgers they're a very dangerous team especially at Lambeau where the Cowboys have have bad luck throughout their history.

Rarely has anything gone right for the Cowboys at Lambeau in Dec/Jan. The Cowboys don't have a good team they are what their record says they are. They've had opportunities all season to win tight games and couldn't get it done. Twice the defense didn't give our offense a chance to take a single snap in OT. The Cowboys defense seems to find different ways to fold each week. I don't know what you see that has you thinking the Cowboys will win out. The OL hasn't been as good as everyone thought it would be. Dez is having a disappointing season and still isn't healthy. The running game has been inconsistent and the Cowboys are stuck with a backup QB they're 0-4 with this season. How much confidence do you think the team has in Cassel? Any hope the Cowboys had of winning out went down the drain with Romo being lost for the season. You can stand by the Cowboys winning out all you want but I don't see it happening. If they win 3 of their last 5 I'll be impressed.

Haha. What planet do these people live on?

The team hasn't won a single game without Romo this year.......of course they're going to win 4 of the next 5 in his absence.

I think a better questions would be, "can the Cowboys get a 4th win this year?"

Im not sure we can. I think are best shot is this Monday. If we lose Wash on monday night, I dont think we get another W. I think GB, Bills, and Jets all beat us. And Wash will be playing for the NFCE in the last game....

i hope we win any W we can get, but when we lose, Ill think, ohhh better draft spot....Romo healthy next year, get a few players in FA, and maybe we can make a run..........................................................next year.

New rule - In order for a division winner to automatically advance to the playoffs they must have a winning record. Otherwise an additional wild card is added.

That's what I posted about above. I'm glad we agree. However, the NFL will probably never adopt this common sense rule. It would be possible to have enough bad teams that they end up having to drop a playoff game. The NFL will never adopt a rule that could lose them that advertising money. Theoretically, every team in the league could go 8 and 8 and there would be no playoffs. Not gonna happen, I know, but still possible for playoff games to be cut. I guess they could make the rule that no 8 and 8 (or worse) team can make the playoffs if it would keep a team with a winning record home, but if there's that much mediocrity with 8 and 8 and worse teams that no extra wild card can be created, then an 8 and 8 division winner can advance. My head's spinning just thinking about it. It would be complicated. Anyway, I share your sentiment that a team that can't muster a winning record hasn't earned a playoff berth.

Can they win it with 3 ?

At this point, I dont know why anyone would want 7 wins and a first round drubbing in the playoffs and a 17-20 draft pick. Give me 3 wins and a 1-5 draft pick. Hurts to say that, but thats how I am feeling these days.

Now what the FO does with that high draft pick may make it worse, but at least there will be hope till the pick is made we are going to get better next year and I can be excited leading up to the draft.

(Tires screeching to a halt sound effect)

Who has been at "full strength", again?

Relatively speaking, compared to us, losing Romo and Dez for most/half the season (and Sean Lee for many games - among others), no team has lost what we did.

the owners will never pass a rule that takes a way a chance for them to have a home playoff game to much money they will lose and its always about the money.

Then I guess you and the LONG list of naysayers on this 'Cowboys Fan" board SHOULD be vindicated. All the negative implications should come to fruition and I should be proven wrong... we shall see (btw, there are several things being overlooked, but that is why we play the games). I assume you are cheering for the Commanders? Enjoy the game. I can only imagine it will suck for us to win and you and the MANY other naysayers here feel like we lost. Sorry you all lost your heart for our team. That must truly suck.

:starspin:Prediction: Cowboys 34 - Commanders 20 :starspin:

No, I'm not cheering for the Commanders and if you read my post I said I'm not saying the Cowboys can't or won't win that game. I have posts all over the board saying I want the team to win every remaining game not tank like many here who are hoping for a high draft pick. The team and especially the young players need to learn how to win games. Winning needs to be instilled in the team not quitting for a high draft pick when seasons aren't going as planned. You're predicting the Cowboys will win out and all it will take is one loss for you to be wrong.
