Think about this:

1. No one else seriously considered signing Hardy last season.
2. Since the photos of the girls injury have been released.
3. There has been talk about Hardy missing meetings and being late a lot.
4. Who else would be wiling to take such a huge risk on Hardy?
5. Imagine how scarred an NFL team would be if Jerry himself isn't willing to fork over a long term deal.
6. It's not like we don't have depth at the position. We can afford to lose him.
7. He hasn't changed or even attempted to change his image.

I say play hardball and more likely than not we will be able to bring him back on a 1 year deal similar to this years.

Hasn't is been reported after similar things to the bolded section were said, that there were two other teams very serious about adding Hardy and he told them he wanted to come to Dallas?

I don't know if it's a matter of resisting as much as it is a matter of there being no way Hardy gets anywhere near market value either way. If I am the coaching staff (or Jerry, if we are being honest) what I want to see is how the guy finishes. If/when this season goes in the can officially, is he still playing with wreckless abandon and giving his all. If so, I think he gets a four year deal with big incentive bonuses.

I like Hardy, but I saw him on a milk carton recently.

The whole dlines been on a milk carton the whole season. Not one guy should be comfortable in for sure having a job this offseason.

That's why you can't be an IE. An instant evaluator.

It would have to be a very team friendly deal or I'd have no interest whatsoever. I might not even have an interest under any scenario.

He hasn't been in the news since a few day after the pictures were released.
Either Jerry has learned not to discuss him missing meetings (which I wouldn't believe Jerry could stop talking) or that has been resolved.
Since hardy hasn't been in the news and IF he stays that way, what risk?
He has been probably our most effective Dline player. Just not getting the sacks we were hoping for. But who is getting more attention?
Should he start showing up and volunteering at battered woman shelters? The smartest thing he could do is cancel all his social media accounts and never speak publically again.

Wait a minute. We have a dline. I thought they were just guys trying to sack the qb.

the thing is the Cowboys can't really get to QB now with Hardy. What does it look like if he left? You might be talking worst defensive front 4 in football. I see big athletic DTs around the league attacking the gaps, bouncing laterally to make plays. I then see Nick Haden engage a single blocker and get neutralized. I watch opposing DE attack the edge and look like bunch of crazed dogs doing it. I then watch DeMarcus Lawrence get close but since adding weight lacks burst that he needs to finish.

For me the real question is does Dallas scouting department properly identify alpha players who might not have all measurables but on game day disrupt everything around them.

I'm not sure where this "depth" is. Gregory? The guy who can't get over his injury and hasn't made one big play the entire season.

You get rid of Hardy, you get rid of the one player getting consistent pressure on the QB. Sign him to a good deal. What is going to happen? The Cowboys brand going to plummet? Apocalypse happens? Cowboys will be just as relevant as ever. Fans will whine? We all do that regardless.

If we sign him, deal with it or stop watching/supporting.

The problem with Lawrence has nothing to do with "added bulk". His problem is lack of talent. He's a solid player, but not a great pass rusher.

To those wanting him re-signed, can we get a Defensive Coordinator who knows how to scheme to get the most out of the DL to go along with him?

To those who don't want him re-signed, can we still get a Defensive Coordinator who knows how to scheme to get the most out of the DL to make up for the loss?

I really don't care whether he is or isn't re-signed. For all the resources we've dedicated to the DL, we've seen very little return on investment. If the DC can't get a return on investment, might as well just go cheap and let him go.

Sign him to a deal that allows you to pull the plug if he can't get his head straight. I have not heard any players complain but obviously due to his past the media blows things out of proportion a bit too. I think he is a good player and at least considered.

....agree, unless the haters want to see WR with 200+ yards and QB with 400+ yards passing on a daily basis. Take Hardy out the mix and it will be record setting days for the likes of many average QBs in the league.

The real question is why no one else is getting close on pass rushes. Ask DWare when he was here. Not a new problem nor is Hardy the problem.

Let him test the market at the very least. I doubt he gets many offers...

I may be practicing phsychology without a license here, but I think Hardy has the mentailty of a 15 yr child.
When everything is good around him and he is praised and the center of attention, he is on an emotional high
few people experience. However, when the chips are down and he is getting criticized and viewed negatively, he goes into a shell and curls up. Since the photos were released, he has not been the same player on the field, which makes hm too much to tolerate when he misses meeting or is late. He has failed to make much of a difference on the Dline with a pass rush. I say either let him go or hire someone to baby sit his ego.

And I doubt we're tempted to give him a long term deal. Apparently the guy can't even act right in his one year back in the league to repair his reputation before he hits FA again.

I believe in Gregory. I still think Lawrence can improve. I hate to lose a pass rusher but this guy is just nuts and probably not long for the league.
