Can we beat Atlanta?

Roddy White and Michael Turner have to be stopped or atleast slowed down to beat the Hawks.....it doesn't look good.

I understand the concerns most people have, but the bye week will do a world of good for this team, as far as getting the walking wounded back on the field, and right now the biggest hole is in the secondary with Sensabaugh out.

Ken Hamlin is out and out horrible, and we can be exploited in the deep passing game without the veteran leadership Gerard brings to that secondary.

We show signs of explosiveness every now and again, the key is to be explosive on a consistant basis, and getting back a healthy Felix will be the remedy for the sluggish run game the past two weeks.

I think this team has all the makings of a good football team, we're not great, but, all the pieces are in tact to put it all together one week at a time.

We've been pretty solid against the run so I see us working more diligently on the pass defense on our off week.

This team needs to focus better, remove the dumb mistakes/penalties, and we can get on a run. Now if only Wade would get in the grills more often, we would have something.

I know the obvious answer is "yes", just on the any given Sunday logic.

I'm asking in more general terms. Do the masses feel like we have a legit shot against the Falcons.

I haven't seen them play much, but they seem to be pretty darn good from what I have seen.

I think having two weeks helps because we'll get some injuries healed up (hopefully Roy and FJ will return). I don't think it'll matter that we have two weeks to prepare for them from a coaching stand point, because I think our coaches (Wade) just aren't very good.

So.... will we beat Atlanta?

Every bit as good as a team that needed 4 turnovers to beat us by 2?

So if we limit our penalties and tos we should beat them, right?

Your logic is as flawed as your knowledge of QB play.

All I know is that we have looked horrible on defense for most of 4 games since the opener. They have not. Our defense stinks. Their offense does not. We turn the ball over like crazy, their defense allows 15.5 points a game. That is what is called "favorable matchup". They've got the edge on us on defense AND offense. Logic says they win unless someone does something on this defense that hasn't been done all year.

You want to take a look at something other than yards? Yards mean jack. Plus Atlanta had a bye week already. Points win games, amigo.

Scoring Offense
Atlanta - 9th 25.5 ppg
Dallas - 11th 24.4 ppg

Scoring Defense
Atlanta - 5th 15.5 ppg
Dallas - 14th 19.6

Here's another nice stat that affects the bottom line, turnover margin.

Atlanta - 7th +4
Dallas - 25th -4

Atlanta has scored 13 TDs in 4 games. Dallas has scored.....13 TDs in 5 games.

Atlanta 15.5pts a game. Dallas 18.2 pts allowed per game. (1 TD was an int return). We gave KC 10pts yesterday with turnovers deep in our territory, and Denver got 7 after the sack/fumble and started inside our 20 as well.

Falcons, 8 sacks in 4 games. Cowboys 10 sacks in 5. Falcons, committed 5 turnovers, Cowboys committed 6 turnovers.

Logic says you should look into some details before spewing off at the mouth.

Funny... yards mean jack, even though when experts rank offenses and defenses they almost always use YPG?? Nice. Glad to hear you know it all.

And BTW, those are yards PER GAME. You know what that means? That it doesn't matter if they had their bye week. That's the nice thing about averages.

Question, how many points has the defense given up because they got stuck defending a short field? Think that has anything to do with PPG given up by the D?

So I'll stick with yards thanks... even though they mean jack

isn't the real question does Atlanta have to beat Dallas, or just sit back and let Dallas beat Dallas?

Im sorry, do they award victories based upon how many yards a team has at the end of the game?

Atlanta scores more points than we do.
They give up fewer points than we do.

Do the math.

They are the better team, and it's going to have to take a special effort on defense ( that I don't think these coaches or players have in them) to beat them.

No, but they don't award wins based upon scoring averages either.

Right, and even if they have played better than we have so far, lesser teams beat better teams every single week in the NFL... Especially at home after a bye week.

Not if we keep making that many mental errors and turnovers. They are a SB contending team. We are pretenders right now.

riiiiggght ...because they beat Carolina ( barely) and had a low scoring game beating the Dolphins.....got beat by the struggling Pats .....and blew out a very overated Niner team who is 29th in offense and 16th on D......

It shouldn't blow your mind. Our defense is terrible. The Falcons quite possibly have the league's best talent at the offensive skill positions and average something like 27 points a game. Unless our defense puts forth a big-time effort, we are sunk.

only top 5 player they have on their entire team is Gonzo

Posts like this blow my mind. We had 4 tunrovers and barely lost to the Giants. We lost to the Broncos despite giving them the ball twice inside our own 30.

The Cowboys just need to play a complete game, on all sides of the ball, and limit the penalties.

On top of that, we should get Felix and Roy back, and possibly Sensabaugh as well.

Honestly, if the Cowboys truly played a COMPLETE game, i honestly believe they would blow out the Falcons.

But a complete game will not happen, but even without a complete game, I believe they can still win. I hope they do
