Can we copy cat Jackson and the Ravens?

Farve was a mobile QB and he won like crazy.

Rodgers was not and was more of a pocket passer.

What in the actual...? Favre was a statue stuck in mud, and Rodgers was extremely mobile, known for getting out of the pocket and throwing on the run, do you live in opposite world?

Lamar Jackson is a super-talented phenom, especially as a runner and hard to beat as a passer, also. Dak is considerably slower, while his passing is quite good at times and inconsistent at others. Dak will be blessed with some excellent talent at his disposal this year, however. Let's just see how he compares to the likes of Jackson in 2020, when the league has had an opportunity to adjust to LJ's game. It's a yeoman's task for anyone, though. I'm quite inclined to give the advantage to Jackson, to be totally honest. Let's also take note how long he's able to maintain his health, however.

Clearly Dak is an elite pocket passer and is much to valuable to risk by using him as a genuine threat to run. Just because he was one of the most efficient players in the entire league in his rookie year doing just this very thing is no reason to rethink our position.

My big question at this point is..

seeing how Jackson set the league on fire last season with his running out of pass formation..

are we going to incorporate that more into our offense?

are we going to run 4 receiver sets this year frequently?

Won't Zeke and the OL be able to open some gaping holes for Zeke and Pollard to exploit?

Will we do that?

If we run 4 receiver formations..will the QB draw and sweep be run? If the secondary takes off for the endzone to cover..has to be huge gaps to run thru.

Jackson with the Ravens have made that Jackson's trademark. Can Dak do that? Will he do that?

Farve was a mobile QB and he won like crazy.

Rodgers was not and was more of a pocket passer.

The WCO is very different than what we have been trying to do.

McCarthy has some things to adjust to with this cast of characters. Moore probably helps but still..

Dak needs to take on a new personality in 2020.

Here's wishing his success for sure. Everything depends on him now.

What do you guys see?

Comments?
No because Dak is not a mobile QB anything like Jackson - he is a plodder with strength. It is like comparing a RB to a FB

Not wishing it on him but running QBs always end up getting seriously injured and most never regain their previous glory afterwards...the more they run, the more likely they are to get hurt. Wentz hasn’t been the same, nor Jimmy G,...RG III....
There is a difference having a designed running play for the QB, or allowing him the option to do so when he feels the opportunity to gain yardage with minimal exposure.
It seemed as though last year specifically noticeable that Dak had been reigned in from that ability to choose.

People saying crapp just to say it!!!!

While I don't agree Favre was a statue, Rodgers is one of the most mobile QB's in the NFL.

Favre was relatively mobile for a pocket QB.

I see that.

I also think that DAKs best football instincts are when he is moving and watching the defense react to him.

Guys get open, Dak throws on the run better moving than standing in the pocket.

To me, his real value has escaped us trying to change him like Garrett insisted on doing.

So does McCarthy and Moore continue to change him yet more in the WCO?

You just don't have the time to embark on a long journey turning this ship around.

Dak needs to call his plays and execute what he believes will work.

We have tried for 4 years to micro-manage Dak with only average success.

Time to not just over stamp another offensive philosophy on him.

Let's get him more involved.

Last year I would watch him come to the line and go into his Romo playcalling act and call Zeke off tackle.

Ridiculous.

When Romo would do it..you would see DBs start moving becuz they knew a big play was coming.

With Dak..it's like a pop gun is coming, not a laser beam.

I want a fundamental change from Dak if he is going to get paid as the top banana in the NFL.

Expect less at ones peril.

Stop.

Stop rewriting history to fit your narrative.

Farve ran constantly, sprinting out, heaving way down field.

Try YouTube. It's handy when you research topics.

Try it soon.

Lets take a closer look at some of your questions. First Jackson is faster than Prescott. Jackson has a 4.31 40 time and Prescott has a 4.81 40 time. Jackson has much more speed to avoid getting caught or trapped than Prescott. QB's that make their living running frequently have shorter careers. Next the ravens last season ran a 4 receiver set only 5% of their offensive snaps. Moving on with Favre and a different style of ball being played during his time when by the way, very few plays were called for him to run, he did take off and run which used to be called scrambled to gain yardage. BTW the most yards Favre scrambled for or as you say rushed for in any season was 216. Rodgers has scrambled like Favre did and rushed for or scrambled for more yards than Favre's best season in EIGHT of his seasons. So much for trying to use Favre as a rushing example and Rodgers as not. And just what is this new personality supposed to be. Taking off and running and leaving himself open for possible injury or completing passes. Oh and your idea that being in 4 receiver sets will get Elliott more yards you forget and I'll use a poker tern called tell. When teams are in a passing situation the line often lines up with a little wider distance between them which helps in pass blocking. On the other side of things that also makes it much more difficult to run block. So when they get into a 4 receiver set and the line is in normal spacing the defense will see that and be ready for a possible run. If the line is in a more spaced lineup then the defense will know that more than likely a pass is coming.. Now from the wider stance they could run a draw but you can only do that some times before the defense also looks for that. You act like after the first week of doing this that the other teams won;'t have film on it and see their tendencies in that formation. Yes you want to see the Cowboys win more but making 180 degree changes isn't the smart way to do it.

How often could the Ravens have used 4 WRs?

With regards to number of catches, their TEs were 1st, 4th and 5th.

A RB was 6th and the 3rd WR was 7th. Their 4th WR was 8th on the list for number of receptions.

Their TEs played a higher percentage of the offensive snaps than the Cowboys TEs in 2019:
Boyle 70%
Andrews 41%
Hurst 41%

Witten 75%
Jarwin 39%
Schultz 10%

Statistically, they're very close, despite Dak having a huge advantage in experience.

We'll see how things go with Lamar adding to his, though, with the passage of time.
Sorry, it's not close. Lamaar is a terrible passer. Dak is decent and getting better.

Baltimore better win the Super Bowl within the next two years. Jackson's days as a running quarterback are numbered.
