Yeah, like Schultz and Gallup!
:lmao:
Not sure other questionable cap moves are related other than to say thank God we didn't also make the even worse mistake of keeping Cooper and paying him $20M

They’re related when the Schultz and Gallup moves were what the team ultimately did with the cap space created by the Cooper trade.

One stupid move followed by another stupid move, followed by another stupid move.

Disagree. We didn't use his cap space on them. Cooper was about signing Lamb down the road as well as our other young guys. That cap space saved gets rolled towards that or allowed us to not restructure and push $ back into those years when we need it for those guys. They were keeping Schultz either way. Because of our poor roster management we had no other TE who could catch the ball on the roster the day we tagged him. Gallup counted $4.5M against the cap this year. That's like $18M less than Cooper. Also if we kept Cooper we would be in worse shape going into next year. We wouldn't have any rollover money and would have needed to kick more dollars out of this year that would hit next year. Plus we would have a bunch of people on here saying let's keep Cooper again in 2023. What a disaster that would be for our cap

I think you answered your own question. It's not just Cooper. It's also the baffling decision to roll with what they had in-house and only drafting Tolbert who apparently can't play at all. Bringing up Cooper is the easiest way for fans to address this overall failure.
Yep. And honestly, I could see Cooper having been a difference against the 49ers.

It was 2017 all over again.

Get rid of your star receiver with no real plan to replace him.
I always said regardless of the money, they should have tried to keep that band together... Cooper and Lamb were pretty lethal. No one is gonna tell me Dak wasn't a better QB with Cooper. It was clear and obvious regardless of Lamb rising.

Anyone trying to say otherwise is lying.

Thats one theory. The fire sale suggests otherwise. Cowboys were desperate to get rid of him quickly b/c he dared criticize Dak. Gotta keep the pro-Dak mojo going in the locker room. Amari wasn't in a position to say anything. But, I think Micah just opened the flood gates. Its gonna be an uncomfortable offseason for Dak.

Agreed. Fire sale says otherwise. Not only that Lamb still has the 5th year option + what will most likely be a really low 6th year cap hit on the extension so I'm not buying the whole "Amari was cut in 2022 in preparation for Lambs deal which won't truly hit the books till 2026".

That's quite the theory, Jones boys preparing 4 years early (and they wonder why these aggressive front offices pass them by every single year for almost 3 decades)

For goodness sakes Jerry made a horrible personal decision to release him. On the other side, did amari really change the complex of games for us? With #4 back there did he actually throw it to him when he was open, and was it a catchable ball??

In my opinion he's just bait because of the lack of talent they didn't have this season. The constant feeling that we could play with who we had was a JOKE! I hope this summer they take it more serious. Having weapons helps, but getting open, scheming, and good placed passes help also
Having Coop for the 9ers game could not have hurt.
Probably would not have made a difference, but who knows?

It's going to get brought up because in hindsight it was a god-awful decision and chances are very high they win the 49ers game with him out there.

What especially intensified it was how bad Gallup and brown looked out there. It was basically the lamb show that's it
Not defending Dak but it looked like he was forcing it to Lamb. Perhaps with Cooper he would have trusted to look his way instead of zero in on Lamb

You never know about Dak.
Are the receivers not getting open or is Dak too slow to pull the trigger when they are open.
.
Aikman and Irvin used to run plays where Aikman would throw the ball before Irvin made the final cut. I don't think I've seen Dak do that with any of the receiver he's had. I don't think I've seen him throw much "back-shoulder" passes either.

Right on both counts.
