Can we talk about Milton and Mingo?

I picked Milton over Howell when camp started . Didn’t see much upside in Howell at all . That INT into triple end zone coverage was brutal .

Milton’s TD to Mingo a thing of beauty .
Good job by you, Ronnie.
I was 100% dead wrong. I figured Howell was an absolute lock to be QB2. I woulda bet a lot on it. Stupid me.

No, Spannford is not behind Schoon
He isn't, which is part of the reason I thought we might try to trade Schoonmaker. But with Trigg and Rogers both missing time, I think it's going to be hard not to keep Schoon and try to get Trigg on the PS. He's going to have to show out in this final game to make Dallas want to move on from Schoon IMO.

I just never saw much in him at Wash .

I’ve always liked Milton’s ability to escape the rush and extend the play . Something Dak could do when he was younger before injuries piled up

Camden Brown needs to be careful . Take the chunk yards balls at about the 1 don’t put the ball on the ground . Luckily it bounced out of bounds . He’s got to be playing against the Giants too much upside

Milton is night and day with his accuracy from last season. Kudos to the coaches.

If he keeps this up we have a huge valuable commodity. We can keep him to be the future QB or trade him for a myriad of picks if he keeps pointing up!
I don’t think you trade away a possible future QB unless you get an unbelievable offer. If Dak was 23 then yes trade Milton but with Dak being 33 and a history or injuries, 2 of those injuries were pretty gruesome, you got to hold on to a possible starter.

Milton has greatly improved his accuracy, touch and poise. Now the real question is can he read a defense? Will he be able to read a real defense and a real defensive game plan? If he can display that then he’s definitely a bridge QB after Dak retires and possibly a starter. At this point in his career we are on borrowed time with Dak. This is the first time I felt hope, real hope, that we may have a guy waiting in the wings to take over. Milton is not the same player he was in week 18. That’s very encouraging and exciting.

That was not a fumble. The ground can not cause a fumble.

I am racking my brain to remember players that showed such improvement year to year. Both guys have been terrible but they have looked great this preseason. Good for them. Seriously can anyone remember guys that improved like this year to year? I can't.
Have really been impressed with Milton this preseason he looks like a totally different player. More accurate, better touch, better decisions.

I said he put it in “on the ground” fumble i thought I was clear . He was reaching to get it over the goal line and he FUMBLED it , put it on in the ground . I’m sure his position coach gave him an earful . If Arizona recovers before it before it bounces out it’s Cardinal ball . I don’t believe his knee hit the turf before the ball was out . Anyway , he needs to play against the Giants .

Player ruled down by contact.

There sure were a lot of Sam Howell is going to win the job before camp posters who’ve hopped on the Milton plane . One even went as far as start him in New Jersey . I had him winning the QB battle before camp never saw much in Howell , as back up . Dak is your starter in a few weeks .

If he was ruled down by contact did you see any sloppy ball handling reaching over the goal line or not . I maintain my point in general get tackled go down at the 1 which is where he was and accept the big chunk play . I’m sure his position coach loved everything but the end of the play .

Milton has really progressed. A pleasant surprise to see him the level he is at now. Getting Milton from the Panthers now looks like another great move by Jerry. Giving up a 5th and getting Milton and a 7th is pretty cheap for what could turn out to be a pretty decent backup QB.

We never heard why he was so slow to learn the system after getting to Dallas. Those wonderful Cowboy reporters never dug into it and let us know. Mingo looked good preseason last year too. Health was his biggest obstacle with his PCL landing him on IR last year. He is clearly healthy now we have to hope he stays that way. Mingo has the size, speed and physical ability to be a useful receiver. Another big night next Friday and the Cowboys have to keep him.

Jason Witten and Sean Lee are two great examples of Cowboys who made major jumps after their rookie seasons. Witten went from 35 catches as a rookie to 87 in his second year, while Sean Lee went from a reserve role with 45 tackles to becoming a starter with 131 tackles.
Tyron also made a huge jump from year one to year two.

Pretty easy

RB - Williams, Davis, Blue
FB/TE - Leupke
WR - Lamb, Pickens, Flournoy, Mingo, Turpin, Brown
TE - Ferguson, Schoony, Spann-Ford

Trigg and Mafah to the PS. I think you can try and move Schoonmaker or Mafah before the final 53.
We may as well face the fact that Trigg will NOT clear waivers. He will make the 53-man roster and then we will move him to injured reserve with the chance of coming back later in the season. This way we can add a quality player at another position without risking losing him.

There is zero chance Schoonadoodle gets resigned. The only move is to trade him or cut him. Another huge Jerry mistake.
