Can we talk about Milton and Mingo?

Seriously!!! You hitching your wagon to Milton

So spend 3 years being bottom feeders with Milton only to find out he is nothing but a back up.

Its pretty season....

Man you sound dumb
Where did I enshrine him? Sheesh dude. Chill. You're trying to protect Dak for some odd reason...weird!

If he's a backup that's fine. Be a good one.

As a Sam Howell guy all offseason I can do nothing but tip my hat the Joe Milton. I think we all knew the ceiling was there but a lot of doubt about if he could actually get there. Still too early to crown him but boy does he seem to be doing everything in his power to get there.
I really thought Howell would be the backup this year and Milton would be lucky if the Cowboys kept him as QB3.

Whoever has been working with Milton needs to get some recognition in addition to Milton as well because he's really improved.

I'm not saying he will ever be a starter for a team but I feel a lot better about him as the QB2 this year than I did last year.

That said, I'm not ready to write off Howell and wouldn't be opposed to keeping him as QB3, but right now, Milton is winning the QB2 battle.

Mingo I’m still staying stubborn on and not buying in just yet. The good camp is good to see, but I need to see a lot more still. He’s done enough to make the roster imo, but I don’t see him as a significant contributor on this team. Hes still a WR4/5….maybe even someone you flip if his stock is high?
That's my take as well. He does look like he improved and getting a long touchdown pass definitely makes him more noticeable.

That said, it was never a question of whether he was good but rather was he better than the other receivers at what they provided to the team.

Lamb, Pickens and Flournoy are still quite a bit better than him and I believe the same can be said about Brown who has really impressed this preseason.

I think Mingo's real value will still need to be as a gunner on special teams rather than earning one of the normal 5 WR roster spots.

We got a problem at wr. Who stays? My Lord, we are deeeeep. Mingo is proving to be very good. Looks like T.O. Big wr with body control and long speed. Now he's healthy. Guys, somebody good will get cut. We have a good problem to have at wr. Flournoy has 2 reasons suddenly to prove he's that dude at the 3 wr spot. Cam brown, and Mingo. I'm almost tempted to play brown in the slot with ceedee and Pickens.
The big problem with Cam is his speed. He’s slow.

Reminds me of Jesse Holley.

Last night was pretty much the first time Mingo’s showed up since he’s gotten here. Milton’s improvement is exciting but he’s still got some accuracy issues. He’s still so raw but definitely headed the right direction.
See not negative

Everyone gets enamored with 40 speed. If you are a good route runner, and know how to use your size you get separation. That speed you speak of hasnt shown up in Actual NFL season games.

Somebody posted Browns 10 yard split and it was quite fast. That matter more. Its not that often you run a go route. You have to show up in all other routes too.

My concern with Mingo is in 3 years of real NFL games he has shown nothing. Preseason is meaningless for Mingo at this point of his career. And he is showing up in a contract year.

If Brown continues as he has, and shows his willingness to play special teams, his upside is much higher.
Once again, Mingo has had these nagging little injuries. Is healthy now. His opportunities have been limited.
But some fans ignore that.

Just what does the 10 yard split really get you as well. We seen how they are using Mingo to stretch the filed as they gone deep to him several times in these games.

Fans get enamored with TC / PS games standouts. How many times we seen this before.

I will say this not to start a qb conversation because Daks our starter but I don’t feel as worried if he goes down. JM looks like a different QB and has progressed. Now I’ll tap the brakes a little because of the competition it’s taking place against but I’m encouraged

This should be Daks last year or close to it. It would be ideal if his successor was already on roster
The difference in Joe Milton seems to be he has improved on his easy touch passes , he has improved in his short passing game. Brian Schottenheimer can be thanked for these improvements with big Joe, the accuracy overall is day and night from last season and much better touch on his passes.

If you look at both preseason games together, Brown was better by a decent margin.
Mingo has been the league for a while, and he's been hurt and disappointing the whole time.
Brown is younger, cheaper, and has an attitude similar to Barham. Mingo does not love football the same.
Turpin is the returner. I don't trust Mingo or Brown with that.
Really. How in the hell do you get this.
You clearly do not like Mingo, and are buying into the TC hero talk.

I hope both do great for us. But Mingo is still ahead of Brown IMO.
Brown has not had a better games by a decent margin. I think Mingo had the better overall games.

Sorry was just throwing the names out. It’s clear he is ahead since he did not dress and Schoonmaker played last night
Trigg will beat out Schoonmaker and Dallas will keep Schoonmaker as well I believe, unless Kuntz can win a spot. He looks pretty good and he is another big body type as well. How good of a run blocker is Kuntz , Dallas needs good run blocking tight ends in this offense.
