I just cannot stand all the commercials. So many of them and 90% either stupid or grate like fingernails down a blackboard. Glad I have TIVO and can just fast forward through all that garbage. BUT that means I have to wait untill the game is at least half over. If I start watching any sooner I run out of the recorded part before I run out of commercials. I watch so little network TV, or much of any other TV anymore that what little tolerance I have for the garbage gets used up real fast. I remember back in the 70s when you watched a game you probably got less then a quarter of the ones we suffer through now- and frankly the quality is worse. Just when I think commercials cannot get any dumber or any more offensive they find a way to lower the bar even more.

I agree with you to a point, but it's also hard for me to be watching a game that was over 30 minutes ago. I like to know what happened as it happened.

Out of pure boredom I counted commercials for a while. In one 20 minute span there were 11 commercials. I guess for us older fans - we can remember when a Football game broadcast was about the game.

The Sunday night games were really bad.

NBC is really painful to watch. They cut out before plays are over. You never know what happens in regards to injury. They cut back in during the middle of the first play. Milk every minute. Its horrible!

I agree, Burmafrd. The amount of commercials has gotten ludicrous. It interrupts the emotional flow and tension of the game from beginning to end.

If you don't have a rooting interest and just want to watch good football, check out the NFL Redzone HD channel on DirecTV. They go game to game every 5 minutes, never a commercial. Great for weeks where our team plays on Sunday/Monday night or has a BYE. :)

What I think is stupid is when a team scores a TD, then they kick the PAT. They go to a bunch of commercials, then they kick off, then they go to a bunch of commercials. I mean, you just had 5 or 6 commercials and about 5 seconds of game play, and now you need another 6 commercials?

Insane.

Sunday ticket.

I haven't seen a commercial during non-Cowboys games (I wont change the channel then) in three years. Channel surfing, ftw.

Has anyone noticed the ridiculous delayed reaction for the directv receiver on the Sunday ticket HD channels? That's annoying.

Well why we're whining, yes the commercials are inappropriate in timing (i.e. after kickoffs) but the creeping commercialism during the games is turning me off. The college broadcasts are really bad. CBS assaults viewers with Home Depot graphics flashing in your face literally hundreds of times per game. Oh, and that's coming to NFL broadcasts soon.

The greed of the NFL/NCAA will be their undoing sooner or later. Prob later.

Do they really need a commerical after a Touchdown, then another one right after the kick off? They shortened the length of the game and length of the commercials. It does get irritating.

Wow, and I thought that I had no patience...

Commercials pay for broadcasting the games, so they are a necessary evil.

I have Sunday Ticket, which is very expensive, and all of the games have commercials.

My only complaint is the number of times that critical replays/alternate angles aren't shown because there isn't time after a barrage of commercials. Also, many times there is no explanation of what was going on before they went to a commercial break. I don't recall this happening so much ten years ago.

Yeah that delay is annoying, but I thought it was all DTV channels? In addition to Directv, I have basic cable. Sometimes, I have both systems on the same channel and you can really notice the delay between the two. I just thought it was a Janet Jackson/overreaction requirement of the FCC to help prevent anything from being accidentially broadcast to the public.

And folks, I hate all the commercials too, but it's a necessary evil. They pay the NFL billions to air their product and they have to pay the bills too. Unless you purposely try to manually avoid commercials, there's no way around the commercial trap (darn it).
