go to the stadium then.

Then you get to watch an idle field, with players standing around, wondering why there was a timeout. It a TV timeout, and those aren't counted on the scoreboard.

It's only the DTV HD Sunday Ticket channels for me, DE.
I get it whenever I have CNN on cable and Directv at the same time. Weird.

Commercials pay for broadcasting the games, so they are a necessary evil.

I have Sunday Ticket, which is very expensive, and all of the games have commercials.

My only complaint is the number of times that critical replays/alternate angles aren't shown because there isn't time after a barrage of commercials. Also, many times there is no explanation of what was going on before they went to a commercial break. I don't recall this happening so much ten years ago.
You got your reply in a few ticks before mine. I've got to stop reading your mind. :)

The original theory with cable tv was it was to be commercial free. Now we pay for every cable channel, even those we never watch, and get barraged with commercials also. It bothers me so much that I only watch Purdue games and Cowboy games, I cannot stand to watch anyother sports event unless it is ND getting their *** kicked. Eventually the customer base will be priced out of the market due to the apathy over a poor product.

Yeah that delay is annoying, but I thought it was all DTV channels? In addition to Directv, I have basic cable. Sometimes, I have both systems on the same channel and you can really notice the delay between the two. I just thought it was a Janet Jackson/overreaction requirement of the FCC to help prevent anything from being accidentially broadcast to the public.

What are you guys talking about? I just had DTV HD installed with a 50" LG TV and I don't have any problems like this...

What exactely are you guys seeing or hearing? Do you have all the settings synced up betwee receiver and TV?

I don't bother watching commercials during the game for this reason. I just go back and rewatch what happened prior to the commercial break and look for whatever I feel like looking for (or what I can manage to see with the poor TV angles), like coverages, who missed a block/who screwed up, who the play was trying to attack, etc. The DVR has two TV tuners so I watch the same channel, one live, and the other being recorded/paused/rewound.

What does the television have to do with it?

 I have no idea, that is why I asked the question...

All I know is that the installer installed the reciever and the TV and he took about 15 minutes to set all the settings up. I don't have a problem with any delays or whatever you guys are talking about.

I do know that the TV has a setting called "Native" the will adjust to whatever signal the reciever is putting out from 480i to 1080i...but, I don't have any delays on any HD channels...

I just cannot stand all the commercials. So many of them and 90% either stupid or grate like fingernails down a blackboard. Glad I have TIVO and can just fast forward through all that garbage. BUT that means I have to wait untill the game is at least half over. If I start watching any sooner I run out of the recorded part before I run out of commercials. I watch so little network TV, or much of any other TV anymore that what little tolerance I have for the garbage gets used up real fast. I remember back in the 70s when you watched a game you probably got less then a quarter of the ones we suffer through now- and frankly the quality is worse. Just when I think commercials cannot get any dumber or any more offensive they find a way to lower the bar even more.

Okay. Well, here's an example. I'm watching the Chargers/Broncos game on cable. Dre Bly was slightly injured on a play. He was pacing and trying to walk off the injury. I turned on the DVR and Bly hadn't even started pacing yet. That's the kind of delay I'm talking about.

I see...so you are having the delay between cable and satellite?

Why are you doing both?

:laugh2: :laugh2: I was thinking the same thing....

With TIVO, if I don't want to see commercials, I just wait about 15 minutes into the game, then start watching and I can bypass most of the commercials (if i want too)...I will eventually catch up, then I just come down to the computer for a few minutes and go back to the TV...just what I'm doing now watching the Chargers/Broncos...

It's not something which I normally do. I first noticed it while watching a game on DTV, speaking to a friend (who's got cable) about the game and they tell told me about a play that hadn't happened yet. That was weird, but then I noticed the delay by switching between my cable and DTV while watching CNN, for example. Who knows?
