Our only real issues on D so far have been in nickle downs...
Where zimmy has choosen to play so "plain Jane"

4 man rush...The whole offense knows who to block...
Ware vs a top NFL OT...EVERY down...Geez, real innovative zimmy WUSS!

CHANGE things up or were going to get beat vs the Raiders...

Canty, Spears, Ware, Burnett & the rest of the front 7 need to do a much better job of doing stunts and forcing the offense into mistakes...

I think we also need to tweak our Nickle backers...Both Dat & Shanle are so slow and offer no big plays...Shanle was made a fool out of by old man Brunell...Dat is even slower...Whats McChunky soup going to do if he is healthy?

I love how Dwight Freeney only has to face running backs when he rushes the passer. :wink2:

Burnett is hardly playing, and so far the defense has been pretty much plain vanilla. I still contend Parcells is keeping things under wraps, waiting for Philadelphia.

Well, Chunky isn't healthly, and a couple of big pops by Glover in the opening drive will slow down Chunky even further. Glover is playing really hardnosed right now, while Ferguson is loitering. I though Dat Nguyen played really well in San Francisco, getting an interception late in the game to ice the win.

Freeny also came from a big time college program...Not from some tiny small town college...Its our coaches job to make the D and our players more effective...So far, very average returns...

Just because I think your views are illogical and i point that out means nothing.

I mean come on. I see Freeny in Indy and your correct he plays the same position every play but hes from a big college?

You completely ignore the point that Ware's plate is already full playing nickled RDE and ROLB and what your proposing is only going to slow his learning curve.

When everyone is comfortable in the scheme and we are consistently stopping the run then we can start all the shifting that you want so bad.

What none of you have ever gotten is that stopping the run is our number one priority and always will. You guys babbled on and on about wanting your sacks and turnovers and now we have them. But that is not whats important.

As of now we ddefended the run well against SD and Wash but poorly against SF and that is what Zimmer cares about most. Hes going to concentrate against that and until its fixed your not going to get your shifting. Youre going to whine about it but thats okay cause it gives color to the board.

Realistically we havent scratched the surface of what this defense can do as the rookies develop and vets settle in. Once that happens your going to get your exotics.

At the same time we are seeing some good things.

I cant wait for us to have a solid week and then you can start saying its not Zimmer but its Parcells who did it. It will be fun.

Draft priorities have to be DT WR and OLB.

Glover still has plenty of gas in the tank and the rotation only helps.

i'm not going to see a Canty thread and not post, so... i did notice him in on several plays behind the line, and you can see the enthusiasm he has as well as the ability. he was slowed by injuries and is just one of many players (all the rookies and then some) that will only continue to improve as they gain experience and conditioning improves. spears, canty, berryo, burnett, ferguson, etc all should play better with each passing week.
this will be a scary defense next year, and darn tough down the stretch this season as well. if we can stay in contention thru Week 12, and stay relatively healthy, we should do well in the last part of the year...

If we stay in contention through week 12 we may win our last 8 games.
