It's looks like we're about $20 million under the cap for next year from what I can figure. $25 million per 9/10 AdamJT13 post - $1.8 for Vandy - $3 for Bradie. How much cap room can we save by releasing Bledsoe and Flozell?

I heard Flozell is a $9 million cap hit, with maybe $2 of that signing bonus? So $7 maybe?

Bledsoe's deal was 3 year, $14 million, $2 million SB, so maybe we save like $3.5ish???

any second now adam will come in and save the day and your question will be answered

Why would we cut Flozell? I just don't understand why everyone wants to get rid of him.

Bledsoe is entering the last year of his deal, so cutting him won't cost us anything. 1/3rd of his signing bonus compared to 4.5 million that is going to go to Romo.

Flozell is also entering his final year. So 1/5th of his signing bonus compared to 5 million dollars.

Well, when you look at how well our line performed without him last year, it's clear we don't need him around anymore.

he isnt playing to his pay. Although he does seem to be getting better. He might have to rework his contract.

We're going to have to pay a lot of people a lot of money next year:

Romo, Columbo, Gurode at the very least.

I keep rereading this looking for the sarcasm :D

:lmao: Uncanny way of getting your point across:bow:

I think it's a 70/30 shot that Adams comes back for his final season. Obviously much depends on the development of McQ. If the kid looks like he can play then I would say that Flozell might be gone.

I don't see any reason to get rid of Flo one year before his contract is up. Now if McQ turns it on and can become a starter next offseason, then maybe we TRADE Flo, I could see that, but I doubt we'll cut him. JMO

Don't we have to re-sign Gurode at the end of the season too?
I believe he just signed a one-year deal last offseason.
After the year he's had, he may require considerable money.

Also may have to give a little more money or redo Crayton's contract. I believe he is a RFA.

If we have around 20 mil in cap space next offseason....we should go after A Thomas unless the Ravens franchise him.

I think it's already clear that McQ is rated higher by the coaching staff than what Petitti or Tucker were.

That's the only reason I think there's a possibility that Adams won't be back. I don't think we'll draft an OT in round 1 and put a rookie out at LT. It just won't happen. It's either McQ or Flozell in '07.

I'd be very nervous turning over the QB's blind side to a 7th round pick that has never played a game.

I would be thrilled if carrot top worked out. That would set our line except for RG for years to come.

All of a sudden we're going to be laying out some big resigning dollars for Gurode, Crayton and a reworked Romo contract. When it's all said and done we may not be as "flush" with cash as it presently appears.

i think big bill wants to dump rivera and adams...and bring in pat mcq and proctor

With his contract vs. production, it would be hard to trade him since folks know we're either going to cut him or restructure. I think our viable options are 1) cut or 2) restructure. I'm not really sure which way we go.

With all the cap room we have, and considering we've done a good job of locking up most of our stars, we might could consider an upgrade at the spot. Flozell is what he is. Yes he is finally rounding into shape after the injury, but he'll still always be an inconsistent player. However, there might not be an upgrade available in FA. I also agree that drafting a rookie high and starting him at LT would be risky, to say the least. So, I'm not sure what will happen.

If Proctor were so great, wouldn't he be starting? McQ, who knows. Maybe just a depth guy. 7th rounder, so that would be my guess.

I sure hope McQ turns out to be the answer, but I'm very cautious. I've heard Parcells rave about two tackles in his history here: McQ and Petitti.

Two other tackles that he's been indifferent about are Flozell and Colombo, who are by far the best set of tackles we've had in Parcells' tenure.

Basically what I'm saying is that I'm not taking Parcells's praise about any offensive lineman seriously until I've seen production on the field. The man doesn't have a good track record here when it comes to OL.
