Cap Space Gained

Exactly, lol.
The thing is the 3 major losses (Cooper, Collins and Gregory), did not create any cap space.
Coop is costing us 6 mil this year, yet he's playing for the Browns for less than 5. We could have restructured and got his numer down to very close to the 6 mil he is costing us in dead cap. Same with Collins. we will take a dead cap hit once we officially cut him June 1, and he will be playing for the Bengals for about our cap hit. Folwer and Armstrong are making about a mil more than Gregory's cap hit for the Broncos.
So we are not creating any cap space that restructures would not have already created, and losing 3 front line starters for nothing (well, we did get a 5th rounder for Cooper, lol) is just poor asset management.
If you wanted to move them off the team, drive up the value and get good assets in return.
I don't think anyone would be complaining if we did that, had an extra 2nd and an extra 3rd or so so we could replace the lost assets, but what we did (talk trash about them and drive down their value) was just really stupid. We just hurt ourselves.

BINGO!!!!

You are aware that EVERY GM of every team could see that even after restructuring Zack and Dak we were going to have to release those expensive contracts that were just not producing. There is no way any team was going to give us anything of value....take their time and pick them up when released....you are aware (because every GM knew) that Coop went when he did as within a couple of days his $22m contract would have vested???

Overall we have reset the CAP (with money to carry forward for the deficit we have next year).

If you want specifics on why we havent spent i'd guess that:
1) We wont spend on a must play costly veteran at DE or LB as we want flexibility to utilise Micah.
2) We are giving our much vaunted draftees a chance to step up.
3) We dont know whats available in this uncertain draft class.
4) We're just coming out of a fairly serious CAP scenario (hence needing to cut/pay cut many decent (but under performing players) and we dont want to go straight into another problem by spending heavily when we are certain what we need.....especially with Dak starting to earn big money (and dont want to abuse his Void years).

We keep being told that "we arent done in Free agency." I havent seen 1 bit of truth in this. Mike Fisher keeps repeating this over and over as if he knows. Hes flat LYING. Its him running interference again.

Any salary cap experts in here know if you can save cap space for the following season? I thought I read somewhere that teams have to use 90%? I'm not sure if that's right.

My question is how the F can the Rams be 5th in cap space still?
They are pushing a ton of dead money into a future time when they KNOW they won't even be competitive.

Going for several championships NOW while fully understanding they are going to be among the worst teams in the league by 2025.

In perfect position to nail that next franchise QB. Thats a pretty good plan, but.....

We would rather be wild card peak across the board.

I'm starting to feel like they will lap us and rebuild and get back to a CG before we do.

Jerry watched SF do that about four maybe five times since the glory days.

Have we ever been $20m under the CAP?
I get the impression Stephen's too fearful to pull the trigger on a costly FA....if it doesn't work Daddy will be so disappointed in him.
Can you imagine Jerry's indignation when he had to get involved in the Gregory negotiation..."Stephen, I give you the money and you still fail"

Honestly, I'd be less annoyed if the big name FA we went for didn't work out. It'd show to me that at least the FO tried.

Actually, what they are doing has worked.

It's put us in a spot to be competitive....but not enough to get over hump.

How often do you see so many playoff teams being this aggressive in the offseason?

Trying to do what it takes to get over the hump.

We strive to remain the same and hope for better luck to get over the top.

Wonder why that one hasn't gone so well.

He's playing it safe (indicates he's not confident and probably fears Daddy's wrath), if he goes tier 2 and JAGs nobody will criticise him if he gets it wrong and occasionally he'll hit gold in Kearse and Hoopers which turns into the vindication to continue.
