Well I think we can see that it is not the individual QBs with the problem. It appears to be coached into them.

I think Romo basically calls the shots on offense except for rare occasions and the current QBs do not have this option.

But iI am stillpassed so I could just be speaking out of my considerable sized back side... I need more booze.

It amazes me how one man makes this franchise and how much this team relies on him. Sorry Tony it all shouldn't be your responsibility

They just don't want mistakes by the backup QB beating them.

The coaching staff is a bunch of you wussies!

They made him check down and it cost us! 97 yards passing really???

You are exactly right. It's almost scary that we are so dependent on one player and yet we expected to vie for a Super Bowl.

As for the quarterback play we have yet to stop the pick play the entire season.

Ironically - it's the one throw all of our quarterbacks could make with ease - yet we refuse to run it.

There is conservative football.

Then there is that putrid, disgusting performance we just saw.

Matt Cassel should not be allowed to play a down of football ever again.

Isn't this the same topic as the coaching thread?

Any neutral observer of last weeks game would say the Cowboys were highly likely to have won that game with a slightly more conservative offensive strategy.

The Cowboys with their backup QB were very close to winning against the Seahawks. If the game is close with Cassel as the QB then the coaching was probably not a huge part of the problem.

Play Moore!

I'm serious.

These veteran QB's offer nothing but spineless, idiotic, scared, losing football.

If he continues the losing, we just move up in the draft to select (hopefully) the next great Cowboys QB.

exactly, playing not to lose instead of playing to win. Garrett's style does exactly what he doesn't want it to do, win games.

He definitely plays not to lose when he doesn't like his personnel as much. Last year, we saw him being a lot more aggressive when he was clearly more comfortable that the risks were in his favor.

I didn't like the Cassel v. SEA secondary matchup at all, myself, going into the game. And didn't really see anything going on during the game to change my mind, either. I'm not sure what else there is to do, but resorting to low-percentage football isn't very high on my list of things to try right now.

Every week it's "almost"...

Playing not to lose is not the same as playing to win. JG has got to grow some gonads and Linehan has got to have some creative plays to run on 4th down and short in his game plans.

Hahaha.

"They made him check down."

"It's the playcalling."

No, it's the QB choosing to check it down on a given playcall (in which he has MULTIPLE options).

Matt Cassel sucks, and it's tough to win when your QB sucks.

It's really that simple.

I'm good with this. I'll gladly admit I was wrong about Cassel. Watching film on him from Minnesota, I thought he was competent. I was wrong.

We know we can't win with Weeden or Cassel, why not go with someone who's not proven themselves a failure?

What I dont understand he checked down the whole game. But we have a minute 20 to go get in FG range and then he starts trying to win the game in one play. Baffled

Maybe so. But the problem is we're losing either which way so why not actually try to win one for once. It happened against Atlanta, Detroit and now Seattle. All games that we should have won.
