On Sirius NFL Radio, a Commander fan called in to get opinions on the Skins chances on winning the Division.

Carl's co-host, Tim Ryan, predicted the Eagles would win the East with the Cowboys, Skins, and Giants battling for a Wild Card spot.

Carl cut Ryan off and said that the Cowboys were Buyer Beware because of the new coach. He went on to say that because Wade is a "Player's Coach" some players would take advantage of that (implying T.O.).

He ended the segment claiming that if we begin seeing Jerry on the sidelines during the season then it's Dave Campo all over again.

Jerry is going to be everywhere this year, especially the sideline.

What in the world would wade phillips do about it? The guy comes off as just happy to be a head coach again to me.

Hopefully we will be winning when he is down there however, cause if not it will be campo all over again. There is no one here to put him in his place.

It's off topic, but good thing for you Charles decided to be banned. Your sig pic would have offended him to no end. I had a similar one of Aikman and Henson right after Henson first signed. He never has gotten over it.

It really doesn't bother me that Jethro goes down to the sidelines, he did that when Jimmah was coaching, so I don't think that matters too much, but I agree with pretty much everything else that Banks had to say. I think some of those players ESPECIALLY T.O. will take advantage of Wade!

If you can find examples of this sort of behavior from players in Wade's previous coaching stints, you might have a bit more ammo, than 'I think....'

Tell me why I have to provide examples or links to state my opinion on a situation? That's right I did say "I think" not "This WILL happen".

Phillips history has shown he's unlikely to be pushed around by an owner. He was fired from the Bills, because he wasn't a pushover.

That's just stupid.

If you don't know what you're talking about, stick to the Giants.

Do you generally base your opinions on nothing?

I don't subscribe to the 'new coach = team struggles' theory.

The New Orleans Saints didn't seem to struggle under new head coach Sean Payton last year - quite the opposite in fact.

And neither did the New York Jets under Eric Mangini.

Sometimes, a new coach and new philosophy is a good thing.

and TO never had a contract that paid him the way this one does either.

people compare way too much at surface levels.

Logic and reason occupy very little space in TO's head

Quite correct, you can predict as you wish. If you could whip out some corroborating evidence of this sorta thing happening to Wade before, I would be getting a little worried. However, with the absence of any previous similiar situations, it doesn't seem very likely to me. Certainly I have heard Chargers and Bills players say Wade was no pushover. And as pointed out above, he has stuck to his guns in situations where it got him fired.

There is the possibility of a T.O. flareup. Certainly though, other coaches' attempts to deal with T.O. have not been that successful, so Wades's 'family values' attitude at least has not previously failed...

This does go back to the Carl Banks statements. Statistically, he is probably right about new coaches, in general, not doing great their first year. But Wade's defenses have gotten better every time he has taken them over on a new team. And Jerry will always be on the sidelines.....at least as long as he can walk...
