Carolina is due

Only two teams throughout the history of the NFL has had undefeated regular season records. So, the chances of a loss for Carolina and Patriots losing is rising by the week.

While Cam had a huge game yesterday, this guy still has the accuracy of a rookie QB - only three games this season he has a completion percentage above 59. Despite his good to great ratings the past 3 weeks, his season rating is still only at 90, he's had some truly horrific games this. We are not going up against a Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers.

And yes, the Panthers have had a cupcake schedule. They've gone up against two rookies, two elite QBs that were hobbled by injuries, and Seattle and Green Bay teams going through a funk, along with Bortles, Mallet, Bradford, and Cousins.

Kudos for being undefeated, I guess. But it's not unheard of for a team to be undefeated at this point in the season. I simply don't fear this team and Cam doesn't worry me. Their defense is near the top of the league, but we'll find ways to score.

If I didn't know any better and I just read your post, I'd think that the Panthers were the 3-7 team. I guess this should be an easy win?

Well, seeing as how I pointed out in the very post that they are undefeated, I'd wonder why you would come to a conclusion they have a losing record.

Nowhere did I say this would be an easy win, I think there defense will give us trouble. I'm pointing out that this team is far from perfect along with pointing out being undefeated at this point in the season isn't some remarkable accomplishment.

But at the same time, with me thinking Marinelli is a joke of a DC these days, I wouldn't be surprised if our D allows Cam to go off for the second week in a row.

Eventually, Carolina will get caught eating too much cheese (as Parcells might say).

The Cowboys are #1 in the NFL in Time of Possession at 34+ minutes per game... The Panthers are #3 in Time of Possession at 32+ minutes per game... If the Cowboys control the ball for 35+ minutes of the game, and don't give Carolina short fields, then they will win the game... The Panthers will be in a world of hurt if we give them less than 25 minutes to score enough points... Their team is used to winning the ToP battle, their defense isn't accustomed to being on the field as much as they will be on Thursday, and on short rest no less... If Cam Newton and the Panthers are Supermen, then we're their Kryptonite.

10-0 Panthers are underdogs, and their coach doesn’t like it

The Panthers have won every game they’ve played this year. On Thursday, they head to Dallas with a 10-record — and a 14-game regular-season winning streak. And yet the oddsmakers have installed the Cowboys as one-point favorites.

Carolina coach Ron Rivera doesn’t like that. Via Steve Reed of the Associated Press, Rivera told reporters that its “a little disrespectful” to his team.

He may be right, but betting lines typically aren’t about respect. They reflect an assessment of team performance and betting trends and all sorts of factors. In many cases, the goal is to encourage equal betting on both teams; the point spread in those cases is a reflection of the public’s assessment of the two teams...

thanks for the bulletin board material yourself Chum......p

it's disrespectful for him to expect to be favored on the road against a team that has proven to be in elite category when their QB is playing.

Time of possession has very little correlation to winning in the NFL if you look at the stats

Number one correlation is turnover differential

What is really funny, is that this 'totally unrelevant' stat, is exactly what all great coaches strive towards. Yea, really funny.

To some teams Time of Possession doesn't mean much, but to the Cowboys that stat means a lot... And I think it means a lot to Carolina as well... Also, Time of Possession might not matter much if one team has 32 minutes of possession and the other has 28 minutes of possession, but when you do what we just did to the Dolphins, which is only allow them to possess the ball for 21 minutes compared to our 39 minutes, you cant convince me that Time of Possession wasn't a factor in us winning yesterday... It's hard to score the 25+ points it will take to beat Dallas if the other team only possess the ball for 21 minutes...

Just like with any strategy, TOP only works if you eat clock and score. But to dismiss TOP completely would be ridiculous. In our offense and an offense like Seattle, TOP is crucial. The best way to keep the opposing team from scoring is limiting turnovers and winning TOP.

This team has come back, scraped and clawed to win some games. I am very happy they blew out the Commanders, they played hard but at the end of the day, this team is due a loss. I really think our team has what it takes. Romo seemed to be getting back into the swing of things towards the end of the game. So heres to hoping we can do it.

Has what it takes to get a high draft pick.

Being "due a loss" implies you know something about the Panthers that I think can not be known. It is possible to go undefeated, the 1972 Dolphins proved that so, are you saying the Panther can't do that? How do you know? I appreciate having hope for your team and trying to be positive but I think you are trying to sell false hope if you are banking on the opponent being "due a loss". That's not a winning strategy. It underestimates your opponent and lacks selling why your own team is better which would be a more positive message. The Panthers are no more due a loss than you are due to win the lottery just because you've never won it before.

Given only one team in NFL history has played an entire season without a loss, it is fair to say that they are due for a loss. Hell, even the 2007 Patriots who were supposedly unstoppable lost the only game that mattered..

We're going to get them and get them good. I haven't felt very good about this team all season....until now.

I would force him to beat us with deep throws. Take away Olsen and mix up coverages and we'll be okay.
