Carolina MNF is it a big game?

Yes it's a big game. I'd say it is a HUGE game. For all the reasons listed above.

It's so big that it needs to be said twice.

:p:

Other than it being on Monday, no.

Not against a divisional opponent and not against a team playing very well.

If by "big" you mean Dallas NEEDS to win, then yes.

Yes, it's a big game in the sense that the team needs to come out and get a solid victory against a wounded team, while getting some of the bad taste out of their collective mouths. This defense needs to step up and show something Monday night, or there is going to be more and more doubt creeping in among the players (and fans) wondering what is wrong. It would be nice to have a relatively "clean" game with few penalties (FLO!) and few turnovers (ROMO!).

The fact that it is another NFC team is even more important with it being factored in to tiebreaking scenarios late in the season.

And if the NFC East is going to be the battle that everyone thinks it is, these are the kinds of games that the Cowboys MUST win.

I'd much rather win this game convincingly, and go on to win the next 2, showing improvement each week. Being able to work on cleaning up a couple of minor issues over the bye week and adding some additional wrinkles here and there sounds much better than spending the off week with major questions hanging over everyone's heads and wondering which direction the rest of the season is going to go.

Plus, I REALLY don't want to continue to hear all of the anti-Cowboy crap here in the Charlotte area. A win over the Panthers would at least give me a sense of peace in the office. :D

Ok. Since there was a post in this forum about Romo and how he performs in big games this one is a tricky question.

There are big games like we all know. That means that it is a big game because the outcome of it has a big affect for the whole team and the franchise. With that definition it is easily understandable that big games can't occure in the early season.

Then there are games that are just big for some indivuduals. To maybe bounce back from bad performances. Or maybe even for the team just because they are trying to find their character or are under preassure because their character is questioned from outside (media, fans).

The second one is really hard to judge. Because even if the "outside" states it as a big game because they think that the character of a player or the whole team is in question the questioned player or the team doesn't have to share that feeling too. So even if the outside has the feeling this is a big game it doesn't have to neccessarily be one for the player/team.

I voted with no just because i interpret your survey as a question about my first posibility. And this is not a big game at all. Their are no really big effects from losing or wining this game - not for the franchise nor the team.
But even if i had to interpret your question as the second of my posibilities i had to say no. Just because i don't have the feeling that the next game is a big game for the team or for a player. Maybe Scandrik but even he wont lose his job or his confidence if he plays bad in the next game. Same can be said for Romo.

So this to me is clearly just a normal game.

I think the first really big game will be 06.12. against the Giants. Given we are still in the playoff race this game may be a decisive one for getting into the playoffs and how (wild card, division champ, first week bye). It is late in the season AND we also lost the first meeting with them.

Before that maybe the Commanders game but i think that is just too early in into the season and it's the first meeting with the skins also. Therefore to say its a big one is i think a bit too much (maybe when we lost everything until up to that game then it will be big. But so will every game then.).

It's a big game in the sense if we lose again on Monday, this board will explode, I mean literally explode. To me all games are big unless u already have home field locked up. To go 0-2 at home to start the season, both primetime games, new stadium.......EXPLODE

hell on this board, even when you have home field locked up, when we lose it's "we were exposed".

First of all, it's hard to say any game isn't a big game. But I definitely think this is a big game for multiple reasons.

1. Carolina is going to be desperate. They do NOT want to be 0-3.
2. Looking at the tail end of our schedule, we need to win these games early on. I'd like to think we can play well in December for once... but I'm not going to get my hopes up.
3. It's MNF.... and Jerry doesn't want to be 0-2 in the new house.

With only 16 games in a season...they're *ALL* big games :)

The panthers are a struggling team with a QB that has regressed badly.

regressed? says who? He's not doing anything he hasn't always done..

And I voted yes, I wouldn't say it's a "must win" but it is big, being on Monday night after a tough loss.

If we lose, it'll be "more proof Romo can't win big games."

If we win, it'll be "more proof Romo only beats bad teams."

That's what scares me. Panthers are beat up, 0-2 and the QB is sucking.

These are the types of teams that "all of sudden" snap out of the funk. And, seems to always happen when the Cowboys play them.

To me, this is a huge one. They let last weeks game slip out from under them. They better come out with a chip and ready to play.

No, it's not a big game. It's a HUGE game for both teams. Carolina certainly doesn't want to start off the season 0-3, and if we start off the season with two home losses (in our brand spanking new digs), this team will implode and you can forget about the playoffs. I just think losing our first two home games (especially in a row) would kill the team's confidence and make it extremely difficult to make the playoffs considering how tough our schedule is later in the year. While it's not a great media matchup like last week was against the Giants, it's a vital game for both teams.

They are all important, a win is pretty necessary and will be greatly appreciated, but it won't prove one thing about the advancement of this team if they win. If they are going to be a legitimate threat for the NFC winner, they SHOULD win games like this one.

In my opinion, if they lose it says a whole lot more about this team than if they win.

Dallas has won plenty of these kinds of games over the past few years. We need to win more (not saying we haven't won any) of the games that are against the best in our division and conference.

as we've seen before, nothing that happens the 1st 8 weeks really matters

10 really

so no, not a big game

if we need this game to get a shot at the playoffs because of tiebreakers, because we have another 2nd half like we've been having, then it will turn out to be an important game

Its an important game. With the schedule we have, the first half of this season appears "easier"...To lose the first two home games of the yr would be pretty disastrous, especially considering NYG and Carolina are both so beatable at this time. It'd be a wasted opportunity.

And while Jones is on record saying he didnt believe in firing coaches during a season, I would imagine if we lost yet another prime time home game and the defense embarrasses itself as it has the first two weeks, Jones might indeed can Wade.

Saints fan here, I'd like to wish you luck on MNF. This is a big game for both teams. I think Dallas will win it. I'll be pulling for yall.

BTW, since the Saints took care of the Eagles, can you guys also take care of Atlanta next month? It would be greatly appreciated!:D
