Carpenter non existent tonight?

I don't recall hearing his name called all night and he didn't show up in the stats line. I was expecting alot more from him this year.

Burnett was absent tonight as well - although I am not sure if he was active tonight.

Carpenter was not the only one on defense playing poorly. Dallas continues to blow tackles. I don't know how many times I saw defenders going after ball carriers legs and flat out missing allowing for extra yards to be gained. The defense as a whole played very poorly.

Yeah Carp and Spears are really looking like great 1st rd picks by Bill Parcells......

When does the bashing begin.....yr 3?

Its funny.....if Jerry and Campo drafted these duds.....imagine the horror?

Quincy Carter would of looked like a good draft pick :)

I think Carpenter is an inside LB and with Akin and James he's having a hard time getting on the field.

There's been plenty of negative talk about Carpenter and Spears. Right now Spears is a disappointment and Carp is a megabust.

I do not disagree with this assesment. Tackling last night was horrific. That doesn't change the fact that last year's #1 with 16 games experience was absent yet this year's #1 at least was able to make plays in his first NFL game.

As I said I'm not excusing anyone and while Spencer did have a couple of good plays as a whole the defense played poorly. I expect better from them and I think they will do better.

I DID watch the game and then I checked the stat line to verify what I saw (didn't see) absolutely nothing from Carp. Tell me what you saw in the game? Carp creating Havoc??? I doubt it.

Yeah he really stood out not creating havoc, cuz you know the rest of our D was dominant. What's wrong with him? Why can't he play like the rest of our defensive players?

Oh wait, he did.

Did you see any impact that Carpenter had on the game last night Rack? I know I didn't.

There is still time for him to pan out, but he is starting to look like a bust to me.

He had as much impact on the game as any of the other defensive players (not good).

My point is, why start a "Where was Carp?" thread when you can start a "Where was our D?" thread and add Carp's name to the long list of players.

I can't believe that you are questioning Parcells eye for talent, especially in the early rounds.

Why just look at the bounty he brought us, Julius, Jacob Rogers, Peterman, Spears, Skylar Green, Fasano, Carpenter, and Burnett.

I'm sure someone will bring up Ware, Newman and Witten. But look at the waste of these top picks. If he had hit on half of them, we would be in much better shape.

Anthony Spencer played a little.

Yeah, I think Spencer did pretty well. His motor appeared to be going all night. If he had a little bit more help out there...

Thanks for clearing that up.

So guys no need for the countless threads bashing Roy Williams. He's only part of a horrible defense.

Ditto Spears and Canty.;)

I was all for the Carpenter pick because I thought he looked pretty good at Ohio State. But it's starting to look like he was a terrible pick. The guy is barely getting on the field, and that's not right for a top-20 overall pick.

I was as well, but it is troubling that he can't get on the field.

We can start one huge MEGA "WHere is our defense?" thread and include everyone in it. That would clear out a lot room on the front page of the forum too. :D

Great point, Mr Cowboy. Jones, Rogers, Spears, Fasano and Carpenter hurt the most IMO.

What was wrong with the Fasano pick?

Did you expect him to beat out our probowl TE for a starting job?

Did you expect him to catch 5 balls a game?

Kind of hard for our 2nd TE to put up big stats when you have TO and Witten on the team. He's doing exactly what he was brought in for.

nah, none of those things. I just thought that pick would have been better used on a d-lineman, o-lineman or cornerback.

People went ballistic a year earlier when Charles stated that he wanted them to use a 1st rd pick on Heath Miller.

That was the argument, you already have a probowl TE why waste a high pick on another TE.

IMO, they only used a slightly lower pick, and they did not get nearly as good a TE.

But we were moving to a new 2 TE offense, and we didn't have a starter to play the other TE. It was a solid pick IMO.

And where did that go?

They went away from the 2 TE set half way through the year, and now we are stuck with a second rounder backing up Witten. Just like we have high draft picks backing up at LB.
