He was at rookie mini camp last month. Don't think he will be there this weekend though.

He can come to "orientation" type stuff and I believe they considered the rookie mini-camp to be that.

Frankly the NFL should toss that moronic rule about not being there before graduation. Its hypocritical in the extreme if you allow Juniors to be drafted but penalize seniors.

The Juniors can't come either if school is still in.

Even if the vast majority don't finish school, the league is saying "you can't come until your semester/quarter is done"

It is a good rule.

Oh...I see, it only applied to Ohio State (and some others) because they're on the quarter system and stay later than most schools. Well if that's the case they should just get rid of the quarter system. It's ridiculous.

Its a dumb rule. They can make up tests, etc later if necessary. Its more important for them to take every oppurtunity to accomplish their PRIMARY GOAL of making an NFL team.

If you are drafted as a Junior and make the team- does that mean that the NEXT YEAR YOU CANNOT ATTEND EITHER?

Yes. 50,000 students and nearly 10,000 faculty and staff members should experience a complete change in schedule, so that a handful of football players can participate in mini-camps.

Excellent. Change the entire academic system the school has used for over 100 years to accomodate a few draft picks.

abe, c'mon. My point wasn't that they should change just for football players. My point was that the quarter system sucks. Most students complain about it and it causes problems for many other students regarding summer interships/jobs, not just football players. Of course they shouldn't change it JUST BECAUSE of football players. There are many other reasons. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but you don't think I'd make such a claim do ya?

No kidding. These kids are already full of themselves. Lets give their egos an even bigger boost by making special exceptions for them in school. That's why the Sean Taylors of the world act like thugs, they think b/c they are talented football players, they can get away with it.

You have your priorities mixed up. For 99% of student athletes, the best thing about an athletic scholarship is it gives them a COLLEGE EDUCATION. One they probably wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

Education first. Football second.

We are talking a 3 day mini camp this is not going to hurt the rookies missing this time. When training camp starts and the pads come on and the hitting begins these rookies will be there and ready to go.

Funny. I know about 5000 students who are involved in the semester system -- and most of them say it sucks and want to move to quarters.
