Don't care either way.......

A rookie is part of the team as much as a veteran, I would want my star!

I like it. Makes it clear to the rookies that they have a lot to work for still. All of them.

Exactly. You haven't made it yet, there's still a lot for you to prove, regardless of how highly or lowly you were regarded before you got here.

Rites of passage have a psychological effect on people. It provides a sense of belonging and identity. For a bubble guy fighting for a roster spot without a star to earn one provides a symbol for the experience. The effect can be profound.

yea thats cool but I like I said I dont care either way whether they get the star now or later.

I think they should take Randle the underwear bandit's star away and make him earn it back.....

I remember when I was in the army. First you're a civilian coming to basic training on a bus. You see people in PTs and ACUs. You get your PTs, it's not great though. Later on you go though you finally get your ACUs, but now you're comparing yourself with other soldiers who have finished basic training and have their berets. Then you're excited to get your beret.

At the end of the day these things aren't special and sometimes you dread them, but at the time they do feel like you've graduated from one stage to another, and it is a good feeling. It also serves as a reminder for when you see others going through the same thing. Reminds you of the work you did.

Is anyone else happy to see the rooks without stars on their helmets. I am glad that carried over from Parcells.

Its about hazing.

It's like in college.

It's a rite of passage.

There is a lot of other stuff that goes on.

Like back in the Landry days..

the rooks had to stand up in the lunch room and sing their college school song.

Don't know if they still do that.

And Parcells would always designate a rookie to be his personal water boy.

I always liked these stories about our team and appreciated the glimpses of the inner-working of it all.

Perhaps some others remember more than I.

I seem to remember Don Perkins singing his college fight song..

and this guy had a wonderful Baritone voice.

Good Times those were.

I agree, it sends the message that to get the star you have to earn it. I think the big picture it is not a big deal but sometimes it is these little things that spark players.

I would disagree until you make the team your just a prospect. Vet players earned their keep now it is time for these young guys hoping to make a career in the NFL to earn theirs

I'm with you. Some of these guys aren't going to make it beyond this point. Wouldn't it be nice to have a picture of you with a star on your helmet?

At least give them that.
