The '90 Ford Thunderbird I mentioned in my original response had the same issue. I had a rock bounce up and crack the oil pan. I took it to a reliable mechanic, and they said it would be almost 3K to fix it because the motor had to be lifted out to replace the pan. I ended up using JB Weld to seal the crack and it held the oil. When it was time to change it, I would break the JB Weld patch with a wrench and let the oil leak out. Seal it up again and add the new oil. I got by for years with that.

:laugh::clap:Good ole JB Weld. That and JB Waterweld have saved my butt on more than one occasion.

That is wild man and eerily similar. That friend in the 240Z asked me to get in the car because "these chicks are going to love what I'm about to do." He was drunk and I remember imploring him to not do it as I declined to get in the car. I wish he had listened to me. I still regret it to this day that I didn't just take his keys. He was not the kind of guy who would have accepted that is all I've got after all these years.

I call it "death by misadventure" could have just as easily been me, you or anyone. His older Sister had to go ID the body and said it wasn't pretty. That image will probably stick with her til the day she dies. So very sad and senseless. These days i have slowed way down.

Ya that is strange, a much bigger motor and tons of room under the hood. Nowadays its a much smaller motor with no room under the hood at all. And one more thing, screw sensors and computers. :laugh:

The new engines are above everyone’s skill set, by de$ign. Even Mr. Goodwrench has to learn new stuff every year! My theories on why cars are so expensive:

1)They invest money in features that help sell the car.
2)They invest money in technology designed to breakdown right after the warranty expires.
3)They invest money in technology that can only be expensively repaired by company experts. Or replaced altogether.
4)They’re soulless *******s who don’t care about customers. OR cars.
5)They’re mega greedy.
