Carson Wentz

my reference was to Wentz being fully recovered from wrist injury and being fully ready for contact at the present time.. however wont argue you, doubt any of the current prospect being "ready" for Garretts scheme----Matt Cassel still is not, Weedon couldn't grasp it after 3 years in it. Except for Romo, is Garrets scheme a QB killer?
Ah, thought you meant "ready" for the NFL, my mistake.

Weeden grasped the scheme just fine, it's just garbage lol. For QBs like Romo, the scheme doesn't really matter. He IS the scheme.

I don't think the scheme is the issue. I think it's the exact opposite--it's the lack of scheming. They run the same exact plays against every opponent they have run for years. We really run very little that either confuses opponents or catches them off guard. We ask players to win their matchups, and it's glaringly obvious that just won't work like it used to. Defenses are too fast and too smart now and they scheme more than they ever have. For any young quarterback to come in here and have success, especially anyone coming from any sort of spread or shotgun defense where creating mismatches is paramount, this offense has to undergo significant schematic and design changes.

Exacty.

It is no mistake that the majority of big plays this offense makes come from Romo scrambling and playing backyard football. This offense rarely makes any sort of big play or catches the defense off guard, when things are run by-the-book.

Exactly- The scheme is timing based and Romo's ability to extend the plays over and over again, actually allows guys to get open when the standard patterns are easily covered.

Do we know if Wentz is playing against Richmond this week? Game is on ESPN 2 Saturday night 8pm EST.

hash tag NDSU....Head Coach C.Klieman says Wentz unlikely to play tonight.......

This the the QB we should be targeting IMO. Albeit, I have only watched YouTube highlights of him, this guy IMO has the most upside out of any QB. Perfect fit. Pro style offense, big arm, very mobile, smart and can be had in the second. Perfect for him to sit behind Romo for a few years. Joey Bosa first, Wentz second.

You redeemed yourself when you said 2nd round, nice, candorful, and correct...

Much more likely to be see in the FCS Champ game in Frisco Tx in early Jan, for sure in Sr. Bowl........

be a tough decision for Bison Coach K----Freshman Stick has won 8 straight and gotten them to the dance thru a very wicked side of the bracket......., team has all responded well to him, bodes well for future,

I hope that kid plays baseball too. Best baseball name ever Easton Stick! Lol.

What's nice is you can see you on YouTube all of his plays from a few games. Its not just highlights. I like what I see.

Just sitting here thinking the parallels between the seasons the NDSU Bison and the Cowboys. Both came off very successful seasons, with top level QB's returning........then misfortune hit both teams and Qbs. The Cowboys scheme wasn't adaptable enough to operate without basically a Top5/ Off Coor under center...........the Bison scheme is adaptable enough to insert a Red-shirt Freshman in at Qb and ride him back to a 5th straight FCS Natl championship game.....

I think Lynch has far more upside. He's a bit deceptive because he throws a lot of WR screens, but if you notice most of them are longer throws than they appear because they are coming from the opposite hashmark.

The other part with Lynch is that his supporting talent is pretty lousy. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't see anybody on Memphis' offense making the NFL. His receivers don't catch well and don't get open and his O-Line doesn't block well.

The only thing that concerns me about Lynch is that he rarely throws deep pass patterns because the O-Line isn't good enough to protect and his WR's can't get open. I'd like to see more of those throws, but since I haven't I'm a little skeptical. But not that much.

Wentz looks like he has the tools, although I worry about his pocket presence and how he will react to tougher competition. Memphis does play some legit competition like Ole Miss, Houston, Temple, Navy, etc. I just see far more upside with Lynch than I do Wentz. I see Lynch more along the lines of Cam Newton and Ben Roethlisberger. And with offenses going to more short pass patterns, I think he's well suited for that.
