Has anyone on this board a) ever had that injury & b) tried to play a football game with said injury? I did in the 11th grade (running back a kickoff and jumped over a guy - got hit in my ribs by a guy that weighed 50+ lbs. more than me). I missed the next 2 games because I couldn't lift my right arm over my head for like 10 days. I had a bruise on my side that went from right below my armpit to my waist.

What's my point? To all you that think that Roy is being a wuss, think again. As the Dr. told me after the game, torn rib cartilage can hurt damn near as much as having your ribs broken. And, he has damge to not just one rib, but 3.

What exactly is Catilage? Quick, somebody go find the Hambrick brothers.

I buy it...and I especially don't want Roy Williams trying to go if he can't or shouldn't because it will just get worse and if we can't beat KC without Roy Williams I don't know who we could beat with him.

Pat, I'd like an "R"..........and I'd like to solve the puzzle.

Sorry, my bad (even though I specifically say cartilage in the body of the post)

Yeah, well it didn't help that Roy was talking scared before the game. This is supposed to be a very physical WR. I like RW but being coached by Captain Cupcake and this need to express his sensitive side is really starting to show. Getting hit and doing that half asssss first down arm point he likes to do didn't look to good during the game either.

You don't show another team that has Brian Dawkins in the backfield they are physically getting to you. Even before the game letting everyone know you're panicking. You're just asking for it. What the hell was he thinking? A human resources representative was going to come down and make sure he didn't have to play the game on that $525,000.00 a regular season game salary he is on?

A nightmare would be seeing this offense without Williams AND Felix Jones.

No BFD. Just trying to add a little humor around here. This place has been rather depressing lately.

That injury really hurts. Your ribs being injured are just like your back being hurt. You really lose mobility in most of your body. When i hurt my ribs i thought it was my back. The pain radiates all the way to the spine. Tough injury. Only two weeks out, but this will bother him everytime he goes up the middle

Emmitt Smith played with one shoulder basically against New York in 94. He basically took over that game in the second half with one shoulder. ONE SHOULDER and STILL was ALOT of football to play. They won because of him. He toughed it out. Getting hit or piled on that SAME injured Shoulder EVERY TIME he touched the ball.

# 11 is a wuss. Plain and simple. Rub some dirt on it and get out there for TWO plays MR. So called #1.

Course, that was Emmitt Smith. Best RB ever and understood what it takes to win.

Roy is no Emmitt.

Everyone knows how painful this injury is... Or at least, I thought everyone knew.

I just hope Roy is back for Atlanta, because that will be a really good team and we'll need all hands on deck.

Yeah, no doubt huh? I "thought" it was a nice username at the time. Just like Q-man17 was about 5 years ago. LOL.

I was gonna change it, I just don't care enough to bother. # 11 is now just another WR on this 2009 team and hook' em wasn't invented by that guy.

And so what. he is still a let down and it is still unbelievable he wasn't out there.

Yeah, Dallas will need #11's one catch a game for Atlanta.

Catilage is the word they use in Boston and the surrounding area instead of Cartlidge.

You know, Catilage.

:D

I remember that game well. Emmitt could not hurt the shoulder more. A shoulder injury to a RB is not the same as the injury Roy has to a WR. As a WR, you have to be able to stretch out to make a catch. If you can't do this, then you risk things like INTs and or incompletions. It's stupid to chance this when you have a QB who is obviously less then accurate these days. It's easy to say man up but the fact of the matter is that it might not be Roy's call. It might be the coaching staff or the medical staff.

I seem to recall that Darrell Green did this to a rib once for Washington, on a punt return, against the Bears in a playoff game. He had to sit out the NFC Championship game the following week because of it.

I guess Darrell Green, one of the best corners to ever play the game, was a giant wuss too.

Some of you people are completely pathetic. You guys get a hang nail, or a headache, and you call in sick for work. This guy get serious damage to his ribs and he's a wuss.
