Why did Jerry Jones insinuate that if we cut Terrell Owens that it could prevent us from re-signing Demarcus Ware on Norm Hitzges Show?

even if we were dumb enough to get cap strapped to the point where we couldn't sign our best player than players would be either getting cut, traded,or restructuring there contracts to make room.

Ware isn't going anywhere.

I certainly believe we will sign Ware in time, but perhaps the writer was talking more about having the actual cash available right now to pay Ware the big up front bonus.

I know we all think money is limitless with Jerry, but the fact is he's made commitments to build the most expensive stadium in history and re-sign a ton of FAs in what has turned out to be the worst economy in our lifetimes.

There was even a report that one of the reasons Jerry didn't make a move with Wade was the financial ramifications of eating his contract and having to pay another HC.

I have no idea if Jerry is strapped for cash, but in the current economic climate it's not out of the realm of possibility that he would like to reign in his spending a bit.

what is it about the offseason that prompts people to post and believe such b/s?

I'd bet my house that Ware will be a Cowboy for many years to come.

A. Jerruh was able to refinance the bond so he is fine as regards cash.
B. We have no first rd pick so the draft will not cost us much in cap space.
C. Ware is not a greedy type so it will not be a problem getting him to sign.
D. After a season like he had no one and I do mean NO ONE is going to even think about not re signing him.
E. This writer is a true waste of space.

We're going to have almost $10 million in free cap space. The author is wrong.

Even if we didn't, as things currently stand next year will be an uncapped year... which means that Jerry can spend whatever he wants...

Do any of you see him letting Ware get away in that situation??

What was this guy thinking to begin with with this article ?

He clearly has ZERO understanding of how the cap works.

Reminds me of how so many fans thought the Commanders were in "cap hell" year after year. Clearly not true.

LOL

You got bailed out by the new CBA once or you would have had to cut players. Let's not forget that.

The Commanders bet that the CBA would be extended and they were right. Not exactly "bailed out."

Yeah, it is bailed out. A good gamble but still bailed out.

There's a germ of truth to the article, IMO. It's going to be tricky to sign Ware, for some of the reasons he mentions, but very doable for the reasons listed here by everybody.

Either this guy is a liar or a fool, either way he should be dismissed because you shouldn't suffer fools or liars.

This article makes no sense, I'm sure that Jerry and Stephen knew that Wares's contract was coming up and the numbers it would take to sign him. If there is a Cowboys I know will be signed to an extension its DeMarcus Ware, hes the last player I will worried about getting an extension.

I posted it because I came across it and it concerns the Cowboys. Do I believe it 100%? No. Does anyone else? Apparently not, based on the responses so far. But I felt it was worth sharing, so I did.
