Dak could have taken less. Your claim about getting all you can is a cop out.
You know how much Dak had already made by the time of this contract?
OVER 100 MILLION.
So your claim he SHOULD go for every dollar is GARBAGE.

HE could have said I will take a lot less if you agree IN WRITING to use ALL Of that to get FAs to make this team better
There is no reason that could not have been done.
But Dak wanted the money more than he wanted to win a SB

Jerry doesn't take less money and completely cheeped out this offseason after 3 consecutive 12 win seasons, so why should the players take less?

The Cowboys could have freed up over $60 million this offseason and signed some of the guys they lost along with Henry, etc and made a run but he chose to dump salaries and divert $23 million in CAP to next season. They can free up over $100 million this coming offseason but we all know they won't so again I ask why would any player take less money for an owner that isn't fully committed to spending it to build a winner?

I don't believe it's only incompetence. You cant possibly see all the teams around you, and in your own division continue to reload each year and not question why you can't.

I think they've discovered they could remain competitive and highly profitable without spending the extra money.

It sounds terrible but when Jerry talks about "dead coaching money" it demonstrates how he's looking at the bottom line.

he may come back even worse.
the last 2 years if he had done this and added a good WR, who knows what it would have led to.

It’s why I’m not a fan anymore.

I still follow the team, and enjoy talking with others on this board, but I’ve come to the opinion that the Jones family views success on the field as secondary. A distant secondary, too.

It’s possible that they’re incompetent, but the actions show that they just aren’t even really trying.

So why should I care?

We have a talent evaluation problem that’s 3 fold. We are unable to evaluate effectively who should be signed for big contracts and who aren’t worth the cap space. We reach in the draft when we should be BPAing the whole way through and we give away draft picks when we get extra comp picks.
