Well they're freaking out about it over on Extremeskins like Superman has just returned to save the earth.

So who's right about Smoot, them or us?

It depends on which team he plays for...

When he was there, he was the best in the league...

As soon as he was gone, he was over-rated and vilified. Now that he is back, I suspect he is a tier one CB...

If you go back a couple of years ago, Archuleta was a laughing stock... until they signed him...

Flavor of the day...

Believe it or not having Smoot back there is a large improvement. We resorted to having Mike Rumph and Ade Jimoh last year.

It's probably somewhere in the middle.

I think Fred Smoot is a decent cover corner who has problems tackling.

You have to realize that we had two #4 corners playing and sometimes starting in our secondary last year (Kenny Wrong and Mike "the receiver must have been using cheat codes" Rumph).

The reason Skins' fans are freaking out about it is because he was a fan favorite while he was hear in DC, many people we're sad to see him go - he's a pretty entertaining character: http://youtube.com/watch?v=CvYXeMAIPok

He wasn't as bad playing for us as he was with the Vikings - they overpaid him and set their expectations way too high.

Many people say he has a lot of heart because he plays through injuries, but I would rather a player not get hurt in the first place. I just hope he can stay healthy.

I'll give you guys some ammunition - you'll probably like this one ;)

But it says alot when the only confirmation is a messageboard posting, even by a guy like Om.

I don't care either way, but when something like that is posted, we usually preface it as rumor until it's been confirmed by at least one official news agency...and PFT doesn't count.

You have to remember that Om runs ES now which is owned by the Commanders. He certainly has access. I wouldnt exactly call it a rumor by any stretch. This is a confirmed signing by the Admin of the official Commanders board.

I cant imagine that Reality or Hostile, or any of the other Mods on this board (including yourself) would make a post like that here, without confirmation.

Happy about the signing if the numbers are what I expect them to be. I certainly dont feel as if Smoot is the end all to the defensive woes, but he knows the system and it will be an easy transition. Adding Fletcher was a big signing for the Commanders, which I feel will solidify the LBs.

Not official til it's official S&T...and if you'll note, our board doesn't post anything like that without confirmation. Just posting it by one of the staff doesn't make any more true.

I understand OM's position on ES, but until it's reported as a done deal with terms and such, it's still an unverified signing. And that's ok. No one's disputing the info isn't legit. Just that it hasn't been verified by any news agency.

A deal between free agent CB Fred Smoot and the Commanders is considered "virtually inevitable," according to the Washington Post.
Smoot was in town on Friday and apparently went to the Washington Wizards' game but no deal has been consummated. Look for it to happen this weekend.

smoot. mod change that will ya ? lol
