Position: CB
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 190 lbs.

-#1 rated CB in the draft. Rated by most scouts as a Top 15 talent in this draft, even Top 10 by some. 11 INT's in only 2 seasons at UW.

-BUT... for those who don't know his story: He was kicked off the Washington Huskies team a couple months ago for insubordination. Instead of posting an essay, read this article that quickly describes his situation:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ffects-top-prospect-marcus-peters-draft-stock

-If he slips due to his concerns, would you want us to take him? He's rated by most scouts as a top 10-15 talent, even a couple scouts have his as a Top 5 player on the entire draft. He's got all the tools be an All-Pro Cover Corner in the NFL, as well as elite athleticism.

-Or, do you just say no way, he has character concerns and the Cowboys don't mess with those guys anymore, and there's other good CB prospects later on in the draft this year.

-CB is a real need on this team right now, especially if/when we cut the vastly overpaid Brandon Carr. That'll leave us with Mo coming back from an ACL injury and Scandrick who's played well this season (he's been our best CB this year). We need another CB at some point in the draft.

-If he were to fall to us in the mid-late 20's and he is BPA. Could be a steal and a true #1 Corner. A lot of scouts have said they think he'll be fine in the pros, that he and his college coach just didn't get along. Just their 2 cents, no one really knows.

-Discuss.

Another article on why he's still an elite prospect and is worth the risk.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ated-2015-nfl-draft-stock-following-dismissal

"From speaking with several scouts familiar with Peterson and his interaction with the Washington coaches, I've been told that the dismissal stems from his inability to get along with coaches and team officials. Peterson reportedly has a strong personality and didn't mind challenging authority about various situations on and off the field.

Although Peters' reported insubordination will lead to concerns about his ability to get along with coaches, scouts and executives at the NFL level, I've had several scouts tell me that his character and personality wouldn't be an issue at other major programs. An NFC scout told me that coaches comfortable dealing with kids who have a bit of an edge wouldn't have a problem getting the best out of Peters or helping him assimilate into a structured program.

And I've been told that Lynch watches over Peterson like a "little homie" and that Peters carries the same "strong personality" that is routinely associated with prospects from Oakland. However, I've been told by several scouts close to the situation that the relationship is viewed as a "positive" one and that Lynch strongly encourages Peters to "take care of business" as it relates to school and football."

Senior Marcus Peters (6-0, 198) of Washington is regarded as one of the most talented cornerbacks but also an enormous character risk. He has had several physical altercations with assistant coaches and was kicked off the team Nov. 5.

"He tried to strangle a coach on the sidelines," one scout said. "Then they let him back on the team and he did it all over again. Try selling that to your head coach."

I like him. He's fluid in coverage, a great physical tackler, instinctual, and has good ball skills. He has an edge, there's no question about that. However, I think there is little doubt that he's passionate about football and hasn't had off the field conduct issues. I think it has been established that we're not necessarily looking for boy scouts but players that are committed and intelligent.

In the past I would have said no because the team didn't appear to unified and buying in. However now the team seems more resilient and proud of their work on the field. If we retain some of the committed/successful leadership figures on defense (Scandrick, Ro. McClain, Church) an environment of dissension will be discouraged. It doesn't take long for rookie DBs to be humbled in the NFL. He's the best cornerback in the draft and would represent tremendous value if he falls to the back of the first round. He wouldn't be a lock for success but surefire blue chip players at high-value positions are virtually non-existent.

Garrett, or someone in the FO, seems to like Boise State defenders, so my guess is they have a healthy respect for Chris Peterson's opinion. We drafted (traded up) for Demarcus Lawrence, even though he had some disciplinary issues at Boise State. Peterson probably vouched for Lawrence and probably won't with Peters. I'm sure NFL scouts will want to talk to Steve Sarkisian about Peters as well.

I think Peters is going to be a very good NFL but I don't think we'll be the team to take a chance on him.

If trae waynes falls to us in the 1st then id take him and not have to worry about any character flaws.
If not and peters is there in the 2nd id find it very hard to pass on him.

He won't be there in the 2nd. This kid is going to be a 1st round pick. The CB position is at a premium right now, especially with all the rules protecting WR's, and he's rate the #1 CB in CFB. You need great cover corners. We're experiencing what happens Defensively when you don't with Carr right now. D-Line, CB, and S are our top needs, this would fill one.

And how many players kicked of team make it into the 1st round?
No doubt at all he would of been a top 20 pick, but now no chance. And every chance he falls into the 2nd

I love his skills, but obviously has some self-control issues. He sounds a bit like WR Steve Smith or Latrell Sprewell - hyper-competitive, doesn't suffer fools but maybe one of those people who are very quick to find fault in everyone but themselves.

I think Dallas' off-field programs and team character make us as good an environment as he could find. Could be that sharp edge we need on D.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Apparently he likes to strange assistant coaches. As much as I dislike Henderson, I do not think we need that.

Now if he will be turned loose in the owner's box with Jerry, Stephen and Spaulding all present, he suddenly becomes a very intriguing prospect.
