I am a NFL purest. I really hate seeing the game get watered down. The extra game could end up being kin to watching the pro bowl at seasons end. That's my fear.
The NFL has been measurably watered down since the initial ratification of this particular collective bargaining agreement in 1993.

I got over my decade-long fear around 2005 and finally started accepting artificially enforced competitive leaguewide parity lol.

I wouldn't be opposed to that
I agree. Wouldn't it make sense? Think about it..if we are confident we are close with Dak, lets get that deal done, and from all reports, Amari and his deal is imminent. I don't see why we would waste the tag on Dak..UNLESS MM doesn't want Byron Jones. It may be that simple. We do have plenty of money to sign everyone.

And it will be a bad contract. Guy disappears too much. No dog in him.
well said. Hines ward a guy Pittburgh had for a long time had what you said..that DOG in him. When moments were big, he showed out and balled. I don't see that with Amari. I see a great player that is content to just be here. Maybe that's just me.

No not really. There’s a roster increase that comes with this as well. One extra game is not going to “water down the regular season”. That’s ridiculous.

That might be true if they weren’t almost letting half the league into the playoffs.

Amari Cooper reminds me of Felix Jones. All world talent but no internal drive to be the man. All too willing to shrink into the background.

Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith would have literally assaulted you if you tried to phase them out of the offense at any point but these two guys are/were completely okay with it.

Only if we complete the CBS sports mock and trade Dak for Miami’s two first round picks.
I may see it differently after I cool down some but right now I'd take that in a hummingbird's heartbeat. Sign Brady, take Tua at #5 and use the rest of the draft and the rest of the cap to resign Coop, Quinn and Jones and build up the defense. Imagine Brady throwing to top-five weapons from behind a great OL with a top-10 defense giving him the ball in plus territory.

your right to some degree.Reminds me more of Joey Galloway. All world...shines when its September , but down the stretch VANISHES. Give me that Emanuel Sanders type any day..that war horse that bites scratches and claws just to remain on a roster. He's a guy you KNOW, will do everything he can to show out when we need him. Amari is great when theres nothing on the line. Maybe that will change this year.

Good read...

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...-new-deal-how-expanded-playoffs-schedule-work

NFL players voted to approve a proposed new collective bargaining agreement with the league's owners, ensuring NFL labor peace through at least 2030. The vote was tight, with 1,019 "yes" votes and 959 "no" votes. The new CBA will expand the NFL's playoff field by two teams starting with the 2020 season and allow owners the option to expand the regular season from 16 games to 17 games as early as 2021.

So they expanded game day active roster but not overall rosters? That right?
Ok I see they will expand practice squads and 2 of them each week will be eligible for overall rosters so 55 each week.

great point. I agree. I also LOVE the wr Peoples-Jones...out of Michigan. I think he is special and would push Amari Cooper actually. The kid is that good. I know this isn't a draft forum or topic...but sice we are talkin wr..go look at that kids tape. Its NFL pro ready now. MM is known for finding guys in the middle rounds that shine.
