Roger Staubach is the first name that comes to mind. He retired early in 1979 after suffering 20 concussions during his career. And he only made $160,000 his last season.

..and that was because he got ripped by Tex Schramm.. per America's Game ' 71 Dallas Cowboys

yep..no one forced them.

Nearly 500 players didn't bother to vote.
Seems to me, the NFLPA leaders failed to relay the importance
of the vote to the players. I wonder what the average age of those
players is.

It's comical, they actually think they'll get ammendments down the road.

that's astonishing to me. Think about those numbers. WOW! The players may have done a disservice to their own careers. Time will tell.

That's a serious failure of leadership and self determination.

This deal was good for the players. My guess is most who didn't vote thought it would pass anyway.

My guess is they're too young to understand what they're voting on and
decided not to vote at all.

But I agree that the outcome was unlikely to change.
My guess is most who didn't vote are practice squad players.
The new cba actually benefited them with increased pay and
additional roster spots.

Still, nearly 500 didn't vote. That's a lot when you consider the total
player pool is under 2500.

Makes me wonder also. Voting no makes no sense to me.

I'm glad all those big name players who came out against this deal got it shoved down their throats.
I've read that Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman, J.J. Watt, Maurkice Pouncey, and Aaron Rodgers were among the negatories.
Probably over the 17 game schedule. I would hope the prorated pay for that extra game would mollify the anguish!

Why would it be the NFLPA's fault? No doubt they told all the players what to do and made it very simple. Chances are there were 500 players that either didn't care or were too stupid to follow directions.
