CBS puts Romo on leave from his job until further notice

What he did was stupid and reckless. Not sure why it's so hard for some here to admit that.

This could be a one off mistake or maybe there is something else going on in his life. Who knows. Maybe that's what this "break" is for.

That being said, the video of his arrest is entertaining and different than some famous people who get pulled over and are defiant and angry about being pulled over. Again, how he interacted with the cop doesn't change the fact what he did was terrible and selfish and he's lucky he didn't hurt anyone.
His play as QB has hurt me.

So "whataboutism" excuses drunk driving... is that your argument?

Just pulled this from Google Gemini: a person driving at .08 (legal limit) is 4X more likely to be involved in a crash than a sober person and "State safety data highlights that alcohol-impaired crashes are 18 times more likely to result in a fatality than standard, non-impaired accidents" .

Ever seen the results of drunk driving? Ever talk to anyone who was affected by it? I have, and as a result of that, I have no interest in tolerating or excusing it.. whether it was a football player I liked or not. .

Not at all. Not at all what I am saying.

Distracted driving is also preventable. We just don;t take dring a death machine seriously enough.
Well, as you might have gathered from the intensity of my responses, I certainly do.

My father was a firefighter/EMT in the Detroit area in the 1970's and 80's and had to deal with all the carnage that mostly drunk drivers foisted on the city. Cell phones weren't around then so that major distraction didn't exist. Plenty of stories about people being capped, dismembered and eviscerated by drunk people who often walked away from the scene.

I still remember him telling me a story about having to cut an 18 year old girl out of the BACK of a VW bug on a Saturday morning who'd been killed by a drunk woman in a Cadillac. While they're trying to remove the girl's body, the drunk woman starts screaming "My Baby! My Baby! My Baby" so the entire crew drops what they're doing and starts tearing her car apart to find the missing child....... WHO WASN'T THERE!

Except the guy totally missed my point, as did Marcus.

I NEVER made ANY excuse for drunk driving...whether you "get away with it"...or worst possible outcome. I even said they deserve every consequence and then some. Not even sure how anyone can accuse me of it let alone people like you supporting the attack. But that's how you do.

My point is distracted driving is every bit as preventable and ABSOLUTELY DEVASTING as any drunk driving incident.

Messing with your phone and crashing, speeding/reckless operation crashes....tell me how the results are any better.

I know, i know...the 18% thing seals the deal for ya. Tell that to the victims.

Everyone has heard your point. It's a ridiculous idea and what's worse is you won't let it go. Disagree and move on; repeating yourself isn't changing anyone's opinion.

Not unexpected. CBS must make a big decision. Stay with a proven sports personality and face viewer backlash. Or cut bait and choose a substitute who may be subpar in their expectations.
A big part of that decision will be his contract. I’m guessing there’s a morals clause. If there isn’t then the decision will be very expensive

You're dealing with guys who are so enamored with themselves that they can't possibly see anything beyond their first blush, and/or preconceived, notions.

They somehow are able to misunderstand another's point then tell you that it is you that doesn't understand the point you yourself made.

Fascinating stuff.

I got to agree Steve we don't take distracted driving seriously enough.

Not everyone is drinking and driving.

But darn sure just about everybody has a phone in their vehicle while they are driving whether or not they have the discipline to have it turned off or not look at it while they're driving that's another thing

But it's there the temptation is always there and it didn't used to be.
People have become very addicted to their phones and very complacent about operating a vehicle and looking down at the phone.

Be stopped at any light and look at how many people are looking down and not paying attention it's amazing at stop signs any place where traffic is stopped or slowed for the shortest time people are looking at their phones.

You may be 18% more inclined to have an accident if you're driving drunk then if you are sober.

But I believe the amount of people that drive distracted and look at their phone far exceeds the amount of people that drive drunk.

Both are crazy risk escalators when operating a vehicle makes it like walking around with a hand grenade with the pinout.

Don't be so hard on yourself....I haven't commented on it, that should say it all. While I don't make excuses for him and he deserves, probably more than he'll get, I'm no one to talk, before I quit drinking almost 3 years ago, I would drive after having a few at the country club, about a mile away, and many more than a few on my way home from a club or friend's place at 3 or 4 in the morning. I was lucky, many aren't. The older we get, the more, most of us grow up. Now, drinking or not, I still enjoy a little dust up, now and then, especially with the haters.

Heck Ranch you can add that to the rest of your amazing skills you're an incredible drunk driver.

You got a really try and test yourself and try having a good fight with your wife at 3:00 in the morning while drunk and texting her on your phone.

My Irish buddies up here in Philly accomplish that on a weekly basis

When people quote me..."new" people ....I'll respond as I see fit. You don't get to say.

I'm not here to change opinions...is that your motivation? I'm here to talk and make sure my point is clear and understood. It's a difficult task as SOME people come here to LOOK for things to argue and fight about.

Like, for example... people trying to tell others when and how they are allowed to participate.

Believe it or not...I have not had one fight with my wife in the 35 years plus that we've been married. My dad didn't raise a fool. Besides when you weight 330 lbs like I used to, you develop a very high tolerance. I know I was wrong, I was also lucky

Drunk driving is responsible for about 11,000 deaths a year.

Distracted driving is responsible for 3200 deaths a year along with 315,000 injuries.

Distracted driving and drunk driving are both said to have the same effect on reaction time.

I know brother I'm just messing with you.

My Irish boys up here they've taken drunk driving and made it an absolute art form.
How they have never been caught or injured themselves or anyone else in 40 years I have no idea.

They have done things I just never thought possible take four 250 lb irish guys put them in a 72 Plymouth satellite going down the train tracks and not even tear the oil pan off.

I mean they thought Romo was a wimp because he only had one open container and didn't even have a loaded handgun in the vehicle.
They really viewed him as being very conservative.

They did understand of course why he didn't try and punch the cop because it was a woman

These guys even at our age refuse to let me be the designated driver and I've never had a drink in my life.

It's like I'd be taking one of their inalienable rights away from them and of course there's no arguing with them.
Lol

Hey we got to have a little fun till the blood test comes back anyway right

Imagine texting your buddies on your way home, after a few pints of Guinness....what's worse, the cops or the wife? Lol

If you're referring to me as one of the "new" people, you might want to go back and check how long I've been a member of this board.
