There are a lot of ways to skin this cat but some require more luck. To the Eagles credit they have lived by the trenches. They have spent high draft capital & spent on FA's to keep both lines strong and they have been lucky that not only have the players panned out but many of them have had long periods of high level play.

When you keep the core dominant, you have a chance to fill in the gaps and see dramatic differences in a short time. Had they missed on some of those picks or FA's, they're competitive but probably not SB bound.

Our FO tries to keep the Oline strong but is more interested in "flashy" positions than filling the interior D. If they would just invest in the interior D like they do the offense, they would be sustainably viable and maybe understand you don't have to have superstars at every skilled position if your core is good enough.

Nolan Carroll in 2024:starspin::starspin::starspin::starspin::starspin:
I can't remember another team going out and signing a guy they had repeatedly targeted and roasted while he was with his former team. I mean it was beyond bizarre.

I’m no JJ fan, but I think when folks criticize his Eagles short term thinking comments, they are focussing solely on future draft picks. The Eagles have done great in this area… Much better than a team like the Rams who recently haven’t had a first round pick that they wouldn’t trade.
Where the Eagles are short term thinkers is the use of voidable years in their contracts. If you look at them on over thecap.com they have a ton of 23/24/25 capspace spent on the 22 season. I imagine they’ll do the same this off-season… So in that very relevant way they are very short term thinkers. Probably the last time I defend JJ LOL

yep.

also they re-fortified their future drafts using their QB position as capital; capital which was gained ironically, by drafting quarterbacks often
