Jerry is an idiot when it comes to football he and his family should stick to business, but they have too much fun playing with their toy.

No Jerry has to sell hope. You have 5 or 6 losing seasons in a row and people will start tuning out. I have a feeling people will start tuning out when Stephen is owner if he doesn't change his ways. He isn't half as charming as Jerry is. Just dull. I'd use the Raiders as as example. When I was a kid they were one of the most popular franchises around. They aren't talked about as much now.
Yep, Al Davis was a character, Mark Davis is just the dolt of a rich father.

Booger does have this character persona about him with the goofy sayings and he actually thinks people are laughing with him, not at him.

He's made the media's job a lot easier with the Cowboys because hardly a day goes by when Booger hasn't said something publicly that makes people go "what"?

Are fans surprised by anything he says anymore? No one who talks as much as he does can have any surprises. They use them all up running out of things to say to hold the floor.

By long term Jerry means the 50 year plan. Something to look forward to in 20 years.

By long term Jerry means the 50 year plan. Something to look forward to in 13 years.
So, he will be 130 and posters will, rather our offspring because we should all be raising future posters, will be guessing when the son is taking over even though he will have been dead 20 years?

We are 30 years into that 50 year plan, over 1/2 way there.

I think the smoke is Jerry trying to sell fans on his team's success or his way to success. But I don't believe he's necessarily lying. I just think he's delusional. His comments about the Eagles certainly were.
I think he measures success a little differently than most Cowboy fans do.

But he’s very honest . Almost to a fault. No one else divulges so much of their thoughts publicly.

I don’t think he’s delusional. He’s just intent on publicly explaining his intentions while hyping and promoting his label regardless how foolish and idiotic he comes across .

I’ll agree to disagree on that.

They came very close to trading for Payton a few years ago.
I know it was in public view for awhile . Im just not sure how close we really were . And if Sean really wanted to land here in this situation under Jethro. Didn’t seem like a good fit to me .

I can’t imagine him being a puppet type. He saw what Bill ultimately had to bow down to and why he left early.

Just could never see that happening unless I’d course Sean’s phone wasn’t ringing .

OK, so he'll only be 100 and more Cryptkeeper than ever.
He actually looks pretty good for 80. We are both old farts , we should know. And I’m only 68. But no way I could maintain his schedule .

I can’t imagine his schedule at his age. I’m not even sure I’d be up to 8 or 9 road trips for the games .

Do all of the NFL owners even attend all of the road games? I doubt it.

Jimmy at about 78 or 79 now doesn’t even go to LA anymore for all of the Fox broadcast. I might could handle that. Lol

But they are both in tremendous health for their age.

No, he's delusional. He's said before that he believes he's the best chance Dallas has as GM of winning and if he didn't believe that he'd fire himself. The Cowboys are one of a very few teams with the longest drought of reaching a championship game. It's delusional to not be able to see that the one thing that has stayed consistent throughout the drought is Jerry being the GM.

And I want to emphasize that I do think Jerry believes what he says, which is why he's delusional and not just a liar. Do I think at times he's just blowing smoke and playing salesman? Yes, but you usually can tell when that is because he's not very good at it.

I think it's clear listening to Jerry over the years that he's convinced himself that his way is right and he's the best man for the job. Over the years, he's admitted at times that he didn't do a good enough job and he's changed philosophies at times, but his delusion takes over because he loves being the GM. It's part of the reason he bought the team.

He can say that publicly without actually believing it. That’s all part of the sales pitch and hype. And who knows he might actually believe it. I know he did at one point . That’s not delusional . That’s egotistical and narcissistic.

Delusional - characterized by or holding false beliefs or judgments about external reality that are held despite incontrovertible evidence to the contrary.

Ego and narcissism are definitely involved, but I believe they just feed his delusions. He's made enough statements over the year to see that he does actual believe at least a lot of what he says. I think he probably believes what he said about the Eagles as well, even though the evidence doesn't fit his beliefs or judgments.

It’s egotistical and narcissistic if you believe his goal is to win.

It’s par for the course of you believe his goal is to stay relevant and make money.

Edit: I used to believe the former. Now I believe the latter. Making it hard to keep following this team.

I hear ya but to me delusional is not knowing what he’s saying. I think he does know what he’s saying. Just twisting it best he can to fit his narrative . Like he thinks he’s being sly or sneaky. Lol

There doesn’t have to be any evidence to support his beliefs. It’s much like someone running for public office . You can splatter anything out there. Some stick, some don’t .

Claiming he’s delusional attempts IMO to get him off the hook. I think his intentions are more deliberate. As though most fans won’t fact check him. And many won’t even ever see it or look the other way.

Right

His ultimate goal is to win. It’s just not his immediate goal. And he’s decided that the immediate goal is enough to keep the revenue train on track . All he has to do is keep the label out there and relevant.

At one time , at least initially, I believe he thought his ways were the best option for the Cowboys. Now it’s just become egotistical and narcissistic. He’s even admitted he’s of fired someone with his record as GM.

Basically we are playing Jethro Ball. And he’s not really interested in owning the Cowboys if he’s not the man and Face of the franchise .

He showed us early on parting ways with Jimmy that winning championships wasn’t the top priority. That’s when I knew.

It’s taken too long for many other fans to see it more clearly. We could have forced the issue earlier. It’s too late now IMO.

Most don’t care why we are who we have become . They aren’t as invested and simply try to be entertained by the games.
