Gonna be even thinner next year.. Carr, Mo, Church and Wilcox free agents.. Can Jaylon Smith play DB...

I would expect Mo and Carr to be back assuming they play well. Mo is such damaged goods injury wise he is never getting a long term deal and Carr just took a paycut to stay here.

Wilcox is a bubble player now. He can play his way out of it and I do consider he played through plantar fasciitis last year but his NFL career is ticking.

On the bright side Heath is under contract.

I like Heath but I know I am in a minority. I think he is better than Church and Wilcox for example.

Not exactly a high bar.

Mitchell was cut by the Bears last season also, it isn't surprising he was cut - just that it was before Training Camp.

Mitchell had a few good plays including a pick last year. A bright spot at the moment. I was hoping he could show something this time around. His late season good plays was a flash as in what some players do in preseason games. But he was still a long shot regardless.

The last DB spot was going to be between Mitchell, Olatoye and Brown, or another rookie DB.

Still he was a bright spot for needed depth, but I guess not bright enough.
A few years back he looked like he was a keeper in TC. But IIRC he had some issues with the coaches, or maybe a bit of an attitude, not sure. So maybe that is still there.

I was pulling for him, but I think Brown was more of the favorite to make the team it seems.

Still can't believe he wasn't one of the 90 best players

Guy comes in and immediately gets an INT.......And then shown the door. I'm absolutely confussed as to what the Cowboys are looking for a in DB anymore. It's as if you make a pick....then your not following protocal of giving a 10 yard cushion...let WR make catch.

I'll take what I can get at the S position at this point but I feel you.

I have come around some on Heath. He was way in over his head which was understandable in his rookie season. Seems like some sort of light has come on for him and the game has slowed down where his athleticism is actually useful. I would rather have him than Wilcox right now, so we will see in camp.

Maybe he was. But I think the way to look at it is did he have a real chance to be one of the best 53? Or even one of the best 63?

The ball was thrown directly at him. It's not like he made some impressive jump in front of a route or read the QBs eyes. He stood there, ball was thrown, he continued standing, he caught the ball. I mean, kudos for not dropping it I guess?

Well damn, hopefully they have a plan of who they want behind our 3 current CBs and they better get on it fast.

Nothing like cutting a 5th CB to inspire fear and panic around here.

Well, they better get on it fast, that paper thin depth is frightening! We better get a vet in here, pronto!

Meanwhile, our backup QB situation is Kellen Moore and Dak Prescott.

Meh, things will work out.
