CBS11 Blog: Babe's Players To Watch

Bobby Carpenter - I'm hoping the reports are true, and that he finally becomes a contributor on defense.

Danny Amendola - reportedly catches everything thrown to him, runs precise routes, and has rare quickness. If he does it in game situations, I think he's a keeper.

Courtney Brown - He's leapfrogged Watkins (who I like) in some packages, suggesting he's quickly made a transition from CB to Safety. If he can tackle, we've got what I've wanted for some time now...a safety that covers like a CB.

Doug Free - Protecting Romo is paramount. We need to have the depth on the O-line that can start at any point...without too much of a drop off.

Mike Jenkins - Burnett certainly likes him, but there have been widely conflicting reports on the rookie first rounder. I can't wait to see what he does in-game.

Felix Jones - I wasn't particularly fond of this pick until we got Jenkins a few spots later, but he's apparently turning heads in camp. If he's as fast as he sounds, and catches the ball as well as advertised, we've got a terrific 1-2 punch.

Tank Johnson - the flip flopping of the strongside d-line is intriguing. Most people have expressed interest in moving Ratliff outside due to his pass rushing skills, and the fact that Spears' size and apparent lack-of (pass rush) makes the move seem logical. Does Tank, who has had nothing but glowing reviews, make the move to a starting role? or does this whole thing remain a simple attempt to make the d-linemen more versatile.

Zack Thomas - I've always liked the guy. I think this was one of our best moves of the offseason, but I want to see him running around with the star on before i get too excited. His presence seems to have lit a fire under Carpenter's *** too.

Sam Hurd - It sounds like we've got a receiver making the final transitions from a 'project' to a finished product. I want to see what that product looks like.

Others: Dowayne Davis, Deon Anderson, Tashard Choice, Roy Williams, Orlando Scandrick, etc...

Add Tank at NT, both backup OT's, Ratliff at DE instead of NT, Pacman, how far off the line Roy plays, and the health of the FB who looked pretty good until he blew his knee out last year.

I'd also look for more aggressive man coverage in the secondary now that Dave Campo is back. He has a pretty good track record with the secondary in Dallas.
