DENNIS, ANYONE?

---TROY AIKMAN'S recent biting comments...(projecting the trade for wide receiver Roy Williams as the "worst bust" in NFL history if he doesn't perform)... puts the pressure squarely on Roy Williams...squarely on the Cowboy's scouting department...but, interestingly, roundly takes it OFF of his buddy...Cowboy's offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.

ain't that the truth. If Garrett can't do his job again this year he should be fired.

Jason Garrett's seat is just as hot as Wade Phillips'.

:hammer:

I would have already booted him and Wade. Shanahan would be firmly entrenched and ready for the draft as the Cowboys HC. Oh well.... One can hope...

Shanahanahanahan would've been my ideal candidate, had we not had two 'HCs' in house. He just needs a change of scenery, and some solid pieces in place. I'd rather go with whoever was making all the moves last year on draft day, even if it was mostly Jerruh - lets keep rolling with the hot hand. One more draft like last year and we're gonna be setttt.

I agree. He was 0 for 6 in HC interviews this year. Last year we couldn't beat the teams off him, what a difference a year makes.

I also think for an Ivy league graduate, he isn't nearly imaginative enough offensively. Or realistic enough for that matter.

You are making way to much of that 0-6 stat. It's possible he told teams his first intention was to stay in Dallas.

Just landing 6 interviews tells me his stock is just as high as it was last year. A year really didn't make that much difference.

A rebound this year (as most expect) and he will be land more interviews next off season.

While he may be some what on the hot seat now, he is still sought after and will eventually get a HC job in this league.

I do not understand the questioning of if Roy Williams can play, it is like because of one year of being injured and playing threw it while also playing most of the season on a new team as for all intents and purposes being the #3 option in the passing game. That people completely forget that Roy Williams put up very solid numbers with Joey Harrington throwing him the ball, and the likes of Mike Williams and Charles Rogers as the #2 WR.

Even if Roy Williams ONLY produces the types of numbers that he put up in Detroit, I would hardly call it the WORST BUST in NFL history. Lets not forger the 2 #1's we gave up for Joey Galloway, or what Atlanta gave up to land Peerless Price, or the ENTIRE draft that Mike Ditka gave up to land Ricky Williams.....

Given those, would I don't see how you can call a #1 and #3 for a weak #1 or strong #2 WR the worst bust in NFL history.

Aikman is just trying to cover for Garrett if he fails again like last season.

Sounds like Dennis is reading this forum... I said this as soon as Aikman's comments were posted on this forum and have been repeating it with a vengeance. Why does Roy Williams have to bear the burden of the offense, when the supporters of Garrett have been arguing that Garrett couldn't spread the ball because he had to focus on TO? So now Garrett has to force the all to Roy? I thought Garrett has to establish the run? Aikman has been trying to put the onus on everybody but Garrett.

Apparently, we need to waste the 2009 season first...

This is true. Thankfully, everyone besides Troy has jumped off the Garrett bandwagon as of last year.

Sure sounded like it to me.

Where was any criticism of the fcat that his "lil' buddy" couldn't maximize the best collection of offensive talent in the NFL?

I must have missed that part - along with Moose Johnston's reviews as well.

Guess the old guard sticks together through thick and thin?

Nostalgia is great, but not as a basis for current and future success.

could Roy Williams be getting set up as this year's scapegoat...this year's Terrell Owens should things go south?

That, or like the rest of the rational fanbase, he thinks Garrett's a good coach an he's sincere that he thinks the pressure is on RW to deliver on the field.

Whatever works best for your agenda.

Yeah.

Question the receiver who went to a Pro Bowl in freakin' Detroit.

But never question the coordinator who's never done squat on his own, despite having the best talent in the league at his disposal.

Real rational there...
