Cellphones

This past week, when I'm using my phone to access this site, I keep getting pop-up crap, allegedly from Walmart and YouTube, congratulating me as a Moto G7 user, and telling me I won a new phone.
That’s weird. It shouldn’t be popping up ads. Is your tracking setting and location services on off?

It's not an ad. It's a congratulatory message that I can only get rid of by backing up three or four times, or by going to my home screen.
I don't even wanna know what happens if I respond to it in any way.
And it only happens when I'm on this site.

Hmmm....I wonder. I bet if you took it to a cell phone place like Mobile Kangaroo they could tell you why. Typically things are almost always software related.

Thinking about it
I learned phone makers are sneaky in how they don’t easily tell you what all functions do. Like notifications, and location services. They make you dig through to get it to where you want it. I’m always punching in to google ...”How do I do change x,y,and z feature on my iPhone?” Weasels....

Hey folks....#1 rule. Look up how to turn off all analytic, notification and location settings, keeping just what you need. I had to look up things from tech writer articles. They list certain menu items in confusing fashion ON PURPOSE. They want to track you,and try and trick you into doing so. Dirtbags...

Remember when we had to use valuable gray matter to remember phone numbers? I'd acquired a rhythm to numbers with push button phones and then had to use a rotary phone and went blank.

I still remember the phone numbers to every house in the neighborhood I grew up in........don't know anyone's in my family.

I don't know what "location" would have to do with the issue I'm having, but I had to wait until I got home to start using this site again, because I couldn't type a full sentence without one of those two messages hijacking my phone.

Well, all of those features work as a open ended function, but could be a bug. What kind of software is on your phone?

Put down that scythe and pickup your smartphone and text me some fun stuff.

As most everything else, they're just tools in the hands. It is the hands that can be a problem.

Yes, but those tools are very dangerous in a lot of hands when there's a general lack of good judgement in the population. Any time I'm on the highway I see at least two or three people behind the wheel looking at their phones and/or texting rather than paying attention to the road and other drivers. That isn't an exaggeration, and I don't get on the highway all that much....so the number of people doing this has to be pretty high.

I'm all for Darwin letting these people weed themselves out, but they end out taking out others with them, or survive themselves and end up killing others.

If all cell companies implemented into phones a functionality that shut down several functions on a phone when it's going over a certain speed, that'd be fine. It's easily doable. They had to do that to Pokemon go because of the amount of wrecks that were being caused by people playing it while driving.

So I'm not the only one. This site keeps redirecting to those things and dating sites
