I said it here a few months ago that he would be out the league this season. He is still way behind other nfl qbs.
Of he could come into camp with the Roughriders and compete like hell and be the better choice going forward. He won’t start first year even if he made the Roughriders. Their QB, Harris, is signed and is the kind of player Trance needs to be. Trevor Harris has played in the Arena league, the original UFL, and for five CFL teams and on two separate occasions signed to an NFL contract. Harris is 38 years old, likely his last year. Trance could watch him and learn how to be a football player.
John Carpenter was to Kurt Russell as was Quentin Tarantino to John Travolta. JMOWhen some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."
Agreed but would add I think the Tarantino/Travolta pairing produced the best movie, Pulp Fiction, by comparison--while the Carpenter/Russell duo was better in giving audience more overall entertainment by volume with Escape from New York, The Thing (1982), Big Trouble in Little China and Escape from L.A.John Carpenter was to Kurt Russell as was Quentin Tarantino to John Travolta. Agreed on all counts, but the notion a quarterback who can’t make it in the NFL can just show up in the CFL and be proficient is not accurate. Trance would still have to dedicate himself to the Canadian style of football. I was a season ticket holder of the Gold Miners. Watch CFL enough and get hooked. Archer accomplished more than Trance in the NFL (and WLAF), but found the CFL a different animal. He spoke of the differences and forged a good CFL career.Of he could come into camp with the Roughriders and compete like hell and be the better choice going forward.
Some things that could make the Roughrider opportunity a good one for him.
1. Trevor Harris has been a bit injury prone the last few seasons.
2. Harris' salary is not guranteed.
3. The dude is old and doesn't have great wheels.
4. The field is big so there is more time to develop awareness. This can be a challenge when you want to make the step into the more competitive NFL, but for now Lance's problems is not NFL timing. I believe it's more basic than that. It's just simpel field vision. The CFL is much more forgiving if you are trying to learn and develop field vision.
There are lots of option for Trey if he wants to be in football. But if wants to be a starter in the NFL he better find a situation where he can get all the starter's reps. IMO I don't think any NFL team is going to give him that opportunity.
The offseason isn't over yet, there will be a 2nd wave of signings after the draft. There was no way that Jerry was gonna showcase him for some other team after that abysmal signing on opening day. Without that as a factor it would have been a win/ win to play Lance.
After that commitment all Jerry could do was to keep Lance on the shelve in order to give him a low ball offer (In which he did). Jerry screwed him Royally then had the nerve to ask Lance to stay. Jerry probably even told him that he was young and in 2 years the Job would be His.
I am for sure Lance was like ***** you, you shiesty *******. Problem for Lance the opportunity to play which was denied him is not on his resume. So his question mark status and the time he needs to develop will not command a hefty contract.
In all honesty he should have taken Jerry's offer. But Pride is a Mofo so His only option will be to develop in the CFL. There is no shame in it and it is something he should be thankful to have an opportunity to do
That was action director John Woo (for whom Travolta also did ‘Broken Arrow’). That Travolta-Cage film deserves it’s own thread. Too cool.Agreed but would add I think the Tarantino/Travolta pairing produced the best movie, Pulp Fiction, by comparison--while the Carpenter/Russell duo was better in giving audience more overall entertainment by volume with Escape from New York, The Thing (1982), Big Trouble in Little China and Escape from L.A.
I am trying to remember if I have skipped another Tarantino/Travolta movie. Did they do Face/Off together?
The best thing for Lance is to play as much football as possible.
IDave Naylor of TSN reports that the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders have added Lance to their negotiating list. The move gives the team exclusive rights to negotiate a contract with Lance in the event he wants to continue his career in Canada..

Fields' accuracy is on the Tim Tebow level so I'd have to agreeTrey Lance 5 NFL Starts
Justin Fields 44 NFL Starts
I say Lance would be better than Fields if both had 44 starts.

It's easy to spot a John Woo film, just look for the white doves:That was action director John Woo (for whom Travolta also did ‘Broken Arrow’). That Travolta-Cage film deserves it’s own thread. Too cool.
