CFP thread

Take it back, brother.

The offense WAS way better than Tulane's

Most points and yards given up by Oregon all year

of course, they couldn't come close to stopping the Ducks on offense.
Oregon clearly eased off the gas
lots of garbage time points and yards

Tulane got curb stomped.

JMU loss in convincing fashion but at least their offense put up some numbers and points on the board. Kind of shocked they scored that much.
I have heard some say that Oregons D is just not as good this year. Wonder if Tech can take advantage of that.

Bama Oklahoma game. Kind of hard to beat a team twice. Bama's D made the difference

I think what a lot of college football fans learned this year is that unless it's two top-10 teams playing, it's not worth watching the first round of playoff games in the CFP.

Those are "feel good" games ..

By that I mean it makes fans of bad teams feel good about their team making the CFP over much better teams and it makes fans of good teams feel good because they easily beat those lower ranked teams.

Ole Miss beat Tulane 45-10 earlier in the season so it was no surprise to see them beat them 41-10 in the CFP.

Despite the defensive battle, at least Alabama and Oklahoma was a competitive game.

The two competitive games stank about as bad as the two blowouts
Miami TAM was just bleh
OU Bama was a textbook example of a team self destructing

Facts. Watching 5-star Bama WRs drop passes or Heisman QB hopefuls look like a deer in the headlights is not any more special than seeing a team of kids who make 0 dollars play in the CFP.

3 of the 4 1st round games last year were all blowouts by the home teams---and no G5 teams were involved

Tulane was very disappointing, though.

Last year it was Tennessee, SMU, and to some degree, Clemson getting curb-stomped

What? JMU was down 34-3 and then found some offense against Oregons backups. This was never a competitive game. JMU did not belong.

DJ Moore played the whole game and was still throwing the ball with 5 minutes to go.

Jeez man, wth?

Oregon got to a big lead, so you're right on that account.
JMU had almost as many yards in the first half as the 2nd, but couldn't convert TDs

But whatever.

I guess Tennessee, SMU and Clemson didn't belong last year either

No. Those schools earned their way in. Who did JMU beat this year? Nobody. They lost 28-14 to Louisville. Their SOS is 121st (out of 136) which is literally one of the easiest schedules in the nation. They had no case except for some silly rule that allowed them in. Even if they expand to 16, they shouldn't let in a team like JMU.

If they didn't learn that last year, they likely didn't learn it this year either.

None of this true and it is clear you did not watch the friggin game but are blabbering anyway.

JMU had DOUBLE the time of possession in the 1st half while getting crushed on the scoreboard.
The offense moved the ball extremely well, but the special teams and defense were woefully overmatched and Oregon D was good in the red zone in the 1st half.

The tired Duck defense broke in the 2nd half and gave up a ton of points.
The entire 1st team D was playing when JMU scored on a 99-yard drive.

The was the most yards and points Oregon gave up at home this entire season.

The Oregon DC is leaving and that defense was pretty clearly an issue.

JMU still showed that it was NOT one of the 12 best teams.

But then no one with any honesty claimed they were

what I found interesting is that JMU had a reputation for a good D yet it was its O that made the game somewhat respectable

Make no mistake the same folks that push this no G5 narrative will be coming for the ACC and Big 12 next.

How you do anything is how you do everything.

If you can't find 1 spot out of 12 to represent the 60+ G6 teams than you are simply a terrible person.
The answer was right there and could have been used THIS YEAR: 5+11.
8 home games. No Byes.

Correct. JMU was a legit top 25 team but probably near the bottom of that.
A big reason for their defensive success this season was playstyle.
But they weren't facing Oregon speed or OL or soon to be R1 QB.
Oregon is shaky on defense.
But that Oregon offense is a real problem, lol.
The 51 they put on JMU was only the 4th most they scored this year.

Tulane looked worse but they did beat a Big 10 team by 20 this year and beat ACC champ Duke.

JMU simply did not have the athletes on D to compete
they gave it their all; frankly I saw more effort beginning to end from JMU then any other team in those games.

Also, those same people will be happy with 4 aq's (regardless of rank) from SEC and B1G league in a new format.

There will be MORE AQs in the future, not less.

There is a shot that all four P4s get 4 AQs, but then the format would be 24 teams.
