Big 10 and SEC still deadlocked:

With a Friday deadline looming, the Big Ten and SEC remain deadlocked about the future format of the College Football Playoff following Sunday's annual business meeting of CFP leaders.

"Still more work to do," Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti said as he exited past more than a dozen reporters waiting outside the meeting room of the Lowe's hotel in South Beach.

The Big Ten and SEC have the bulk of control over the format in 2026 and beyond because of a memorandum of understanding that was signed by the 10 FBS commissioners, including former American Conference commissioner Mike Aresco, and Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua. If Petitti and SEC commissioner Greg Sankey can't agree on a format by Friday -- an extended deadline imposed by ESPN, the sole TV rights holder -- the playoff will stay at 12 teams for at least another year.

24 is dumb. Teams ranked in the 20s have no business being in a playoff.

It’s a money grab that just waters down the competition and frankly, diminishes the 1st round.

Do you feel the same way about college basketball? Is 64 teams way too much and they should cut it down to 16 teams instead?

Why does it matter?
March Madness is still one of the most entertaining sporting events of the year.
Just maybe there should be higher standards?
And just maybe making kids play more brutal games in winter is something that should be thought about; though clearly you do not care.

Lol.

Such drama and hyperbole. We make 18-year-old kids go die on beaches in Normandy. But if I want 22-year-old men to play football in January it means that I do not care about them? :omg:

By the way, if you haven’t noticed… Most of these playoff games are in warm weather spots or nice indoor stadiums. ;)

not all but then you clearly would pay to watch the Christians vs the Lions. No doubt about it.

I'm not a " fan" either. I just follow this conference , high school recruiting rankings, and the NFL draft. NIL is def a new age and sure Bama and UGA don't have Texas money, but bc of the location of the schools and the abundance of football talent in this part of the world, these schools will always get top talent. Instead of stacking 4 and 5 star recruits at every position, they just don't have the depth. There is now a steep drop-off between their first team players and bench that wasn't there for the past 15 years. Nobody around here is expecting undefeated seasons anymore.
Maybe. I think money talks and that's why Bama had 3 losses.

Which is exactly what has happened in every sport.

Now I would rather watch Christians get eaten by lions because I prefer an expanded sports playoffs?
Hahahahahahha.

You seriously need help.
Stop the personal attacks and grow up.

why should I since you seem quite happy to watch anything at all

Bottom line is that 12 teams - if they were chosen completely as who has a chance to win it all
is already too many
16 is stupid and 24 is obscene

and before that?
and a fourth seed is between 13-16 overall
so once again that means at least 48 of the 64 teams did not belong
Whooaaaa there hossie, you asked a question, I answered.

Expanded playoffs is about money. Does not matter who belongs and who doesn't. That's just a cute little fan thingie so they have something to argue about.

I also dislike how many more games are played; the season is already so long compared to what is normal.

Lol. 12 teams is “too many”, yet 3 years ago the 13-16th ranked team won it all in Basketball.

I also know that in 1985, Villanova who was the 29th-32nd overall team won it.

So your criteria doesn’t hold water at all, and you would regularly exclude the true champions from the playoffs.
