CFP thread

Good on Ty BTW, caring about how Bama fans feel about him.

Gets to be QB3 is my guess and a 1st rounder with 5 years guaranteed now that Dante returns to Oregon.

Expect Oregon to be pre-season number 1 BTW.

Miami stuck without a QB is wild.

Why the heck should I "pay attention" to or give any credence to any of your theories? You're just some redneck on a chat board with no inside information. This particular theory makes no sense. More games means more revenue. So, if ESPN doesn't want it, it's got nothing to do with their ability to afford it.
man, you might literally be special ed.
more money for the sport does not mean more money for ESPN.
ESPN is the one PAYING the money dolt.

They CANNOT afford more college football spend.
Thats why we do not have a PAC 12 anymore.

They do NOT want more games and a chance for those games to be sold to another provider.

They badly wanted and got a playoff and bought it in its entirety.
Then sold off the two games versus NFL games AT A LOSS because they wanted to recoup some cash.
Going to 24 DOUBLES the games and makes it nearly impossible to keep FOX out of the CFP.

The entire fight is really Fox vs ESPN.

The next foot to drop is the case playing out now with the Ole Miss QB suing the NCAA for eligibility. Why should the NCAA deny eligibility to anyone as long as they are taking classes at the school? 4, 5, 6 years...... the eligibility rules are arbitrary which is exactly the sort of rules courts have been striking down. I think we are headed toward career college athletes.
It's going to severely hurt high school football. Where are fresh players going to come from. This isn't going to be sustainable long term. I could even see Congress stepping in on this.

Miami fans seem really peeved that IU is a big favorite. They are really playing into this underdog role and how it's a slap in the face that Miami is not getting any respect.

I have to admit, when the line opened at 5.5, I thought it was fair maybe a little aggressive for IU but the line has ballooned to 8, 8.5 in some spots, whew boy.............

You are muted. Zero interest in your opinions. I can't debate someone that just makes stuff up.

That has always been the goal of the NCAA.
To get Congress to act and codify antitrust exemptions but good luck with that.
Congress is the only less useful org than the NCAA.

If they couldn't get a bill passed with Repub majorities across the board, they are most definitely not after mid-terms.
D1 football needs to police itself.
The CSC was an effort to do so but has no power until the schools sign off on it as a true enforcement arm.

HS kids have been getting squeezed since COVID. And the squeezing was just beginning.
But we also gotta be real. A lot of spots were pure nepotism and favoritism.
Coaches' kids and rich alumni relatives who were never really at that level.
So some of that squeezing might be good.

Now many will have to start at G6 or lower and prove they belong.
The upside is they can obviously portal as soon as they do and be financially rewarded for it.

Fan backlash will drive a lot of this.
Players getting extra years is already being jeered.
They will get to 5 years for 5 seasons of play in about 2-3 seasons.

MIA fans are POed that the undefeated team is a big fav? That's some major drugs talking.

The line is predicated on people betting. The line grows so Vegas can even out the betting and make money no matter who wins.

Yeah, Ala was done as soon as NIL got here. They quite simply cannot afford to keep up w/ the higher monied schools.

One of my buds sent me this: "For 2025 for taxes and royalties, UT received 27 billion in revenues."

I mean sure but the line moves based on where the money is coming in. That means a substantial amount of money came in on IU for the line to go up 3 points to 8.5 or 9 in some spots and that many think IU will beat them up pretty good. The fact that the line sits at around 8.5 is pretty surprising for some.

I heard some TV folks saying it could be the biggest blowout in title history.

I think Miami will at least do better than Oregon and Alabama did. Just come within 33 points, and they do that..lol.

Seriously, though, I think they can make it a game, but a lot will have to go right for them. 8.5 sprad isn't crazy, but Mimai is capable of beating that or even winning outright....but again, so much would have to go right for them.

My guess is it looks similar to the Oregon-Texas Tech game.
Indiana defense dominates but Miami defense also battles and keeps it close.
Miami just needs 1 or 2 big plays to keep it close.
They cannot do what Tech did and lose the turnover battle badly.

They are not done. lol Alabama is knocked down a peg bc they lost Saban by surprise and had to hire a lesser coach. De Boer is a good coach, but he is no Saban. If Alabama had time to prepare for this, there is no way they come up with Kalen Deboer. This was always going to happen to Alabama when Nick retired.

They still have 4 and 5 star guys at every position, and top 10 NIL money according to 247 sports. They don't spend on transfers. They spend to keep their own players from leaving.

Dawg fight. MIA also has a very good D. Look for a close game, prolly down to the wire.

I wouldn't bet this game, but if I did I'd take MIA and the points.

If you say so. I've heard they don't have that much, but I have no idea. And since I'm neither an ALA fan nor a hater, I'm fine either way.

I'm not a " fan" either. I just follow this conference , high school recruiting rankings, and the NFL draft. NIL is def a new age and sure Bama and UGA don't have Texas money, but bc of the location of the schools and the abundance of football talent in this part of the world, these schools will always get top talent. Instead of stacking 4 and 5 star recruits at every position, they just don't have the depth. There is now a steep drop-off between their first team players and bench that wasn't there for the past 15 years. Nobody around here is expecting undefeated seasons anymore.
