Bears' Grossman breaks ankle, out 3-4 months Click here to find out more!
NFL.com wire reports

ST. LOUIS (Aug. 12, 2005) -- Chicago Bears quarterback Rex Grossman broke his left ankle early in the second quarter of a preseason game against the St. Louis Rams and will be sidelined three to four months.

Grossman, who played in only three games last season before being shelved by a right knee injury, was hurt with 11:08 to go in the half on a 4-yard completion to Darnell Sanders. After being flushed out of the pocket by Jeremy Loyd and Trev Faulk and getting spun around by Faulk, he got back to his feet.

While limping, Grossman signaled for a trainer. He then sat down and grabbed his left knee in pain, and slammed his helmet on the cart before being taken off the field.

The Bears used four quarterbacks last year and have used at least three in six of seven seasons. They could be stuck in a similar predicament this year given that backup Chad Hutchinson is unproven.

But you know what, Chad just might get his shot. Who would have ever thought?

Ouch. Ugly start for the Bears.

Maybe lady luck will be nice to us this year when it comes to the injury bug.

Dude, they have got to give up on that tool the same way we did.

Chutch sucks.

Good luck to him....he'll need it.

The Bears are gonna have another rough year. No tears here.

It's kinda funny listening to guys call in to the ESPN radio...or maybe it's Fox sports radio that I'm listening to, call in about Chutch....I still haven't heard a single guy say anything good about him....and so far, the host is taking calls from alot of Cowboy fans.

Hey Matt Leinart................ the Bears are now on the clock.

Chad had an OK QB rating last year (74ish). But Chad is a great example of how inaccurate that rating can be. The QB rating takes completions, yards, td, and ints (per attempt) and jams that together in a weird formula. What it misses is sacks, fumbles, and what we all see in Hutch - a total inability to get the ball away with pressure. QB rating stinks as an index when the QB can't get the ball out quickly. Hutch's rating reflects what he does when he has great protection -b/c he can't throw the ball otherwise. Bears are in for a long long season -- and that's saying something after the last few.

The second I heard about Rex's injury that is the exact same thought that ran through my mind.

Damn...the bears just cant seem to get a break.

And when they do finally get a break...its really a BREAK. :(

Too bad...I heard Grossman was looking halfway decent.

Grossman's durability is in serious question now. He can't seem to stay healthy.

thats exactly what I was thinking earlier tonight.what is it ...3 outta 3 years?Hutch. is gonna need a lot of help!

I agree with all of the sentiments here. But one thing keeps popping into my mind over this. It used to be that quarterbacks sat on the bench for years before they ever saw the field. It took years for them to develop. I'm still not convinced that some of the younger guys we have run through won't end up being players at some point. Not necessarily Hutch, but some of them. We don't seem to really groom qb's anymore.

Hey...maybe the Bears can sign QC and he can battle Hutch for the starting spot.

That sort of sounds like Drew to me.

Are your referring to Bledsoe? :D Sorry someone had to do it.

I was never a fan of Chadwick, but good luck to him.

Hopefully he'll work out what his role is in Chicago. ;)
