Drogba was taking the 5th penalty, not Terry. Chelsea confirmed it after the game, Drogba is always a penalty taker. I'm aware of the rule as I see it happen every other week in the premiership, but it wasn't a slap. He just flicked him like players always do and the ref based the decision from the assistant (who obviously judged it to be worse than it was).

Tevez done the EXACT same thing to Ashley Cole (that's the reason Lampard went after him) and nothing happened...the ref had a huge impact on it.

Terry would have still been one of the top 5 Chelsea players to take PKs in the shoot out. That part doesn't change. His miss was huge. The ref had a clear view of what happened. They showed a camera angle and you could see the ref looking right at the incident. It was not based on the decision of the assistant. I agree that is was not much(only a flick) but unfortunately that is not the way the rule is written or enforced. No hands to the face in any fashion.

The ref may not have seen Tevez do the same thing to Cole. That sucked, but the ref still did the right thing with Drogba based on the rules he has to enforce. That is why they should move to bring in replay to review altercations. There is just too much at stake for a single ref to handle even with two assistants that tend to have poor angles and far away views to really contribute much.

I agree about video evidence, in games like that one stupid decision should not impact the game that much. I know the assistant's are supposed to help the ref, but in that case it shouldn't have happened...he was at least 25 yards away and players were blocking his sight of what happened, you can't judge what happened through that.

Terry wouldn't have taken a penalty though, not a chance lol. It would have been the usual, Ballack, Lampard, Cole, Beletti and Drogba.

Ronaldo stops on 80% of the penalties he takes, the guy is my favorite player and his penalty and free kick style are both very different from anone else's. He takes his two steps, stops to read the keeper and then normally drags the ball low into the corner...this time he didn't drag it correctly.

I have never seen him stop before. I have seen him almost stop. A couple of quick steps followed by a very slow step or slight hesitation to throw off the keeper, but I have never seen him completely stop moving like he did yesterday. It may be a fine line, but I think he finally crossed it yesterday. I don't question is talent or even his approach on his PKs. However, yesterday he did break the rules and as the announcers mentioned had he made his kick the ref could have and should have disallowed it.

He stops the majority of the time, the two against Arsenal were the longest stops I can remember though...he stopped and looked for a full second lol. It's not illegal to stop and go again, just as long as you don't stop and wait for the keeper to move...that is what makes it illegal.

Nah, it's personal preference. Some players take two steps and place it, some take five steps and go for power, Ronaldo (and a few others) stutter-step...he's one of the best penaly takers in the game, just missed that one.

Ronaldo is a diving cheat, and the way he takes his penalties is blatantly illegal, it was shown in the Final just how much he can take the rules of the game and wipe his arse with them. Constant diving, constantly trying to show the referee up. You picked an amazing human being to admire.

The stutter step stop(thats the key word, STOP, he stops his momentum and waits for the goalie to move like a true coward) sheeeit is total, total, BS. I doubt the referees let anyone get away with that nonsense that is not named Christiano Purseboy fake Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is the best player in the world...hate him if you want, doesn't change that. As for the diving, you need to take a look at the way the game is right now - Ronaldo's diving has cut in half from what it used to be, there are WAY more players diving than Ronaldo.

As for his penalty style, it's not illegal in the slightest. It is illegal to stop right as you are hitting the ball (incase you are trying to make the keper dive and just tap it in), Ronaldo stops mid-way through his run up and then goes again....not illegal.
