Change is in the air

We needed more than one guy on the D-line given how the other picks in the past couple of years haven't panned out as well as hyped.
they brought in fowler as well, and are getting sam williams back

There seems to be change in the air at the Star these days. I don’t remember, in recent history anyway, they’ve been this active in attempting to fill holes. Don’t be quick to poo poo the free agents as they signed some quality depth there. Not top tier talent but better players than in the past. As everyone should know, you must have quality depth to compete for a Super Bowl because they will be put to the test at some point during the season. As an example of the changes just look at the 2024 RB depth chart compared to 2025:

2024 RB room

* Rico Dowdle
* Ezekiel Elliott
* Dalvin Cook
* Hunter Luepke
* Duece Vaughn

2025 RB room as of May 7th

* Jayden Blue
* Javonte Williams
* Miles Sanders
* Phil Mafah
* Hunder Luepke or Duece

That’s a solid upgrade to the running backs room. Bruisers as well as quickness. Exciting.

The Pickens trade has really got me excited not only becuase he’s one of the best WR’s in the NFL but it signals that theres a change underway in the philosophy of how Jerry and Stephen run the show.

Resigning Osa, Turpin and Hoffman show they got ahead of those contracts which is something they’ve had difficulty doing. Parsons is unsigned but so is Purdy, Trey Hendrickson and TJ Watt.

Trades:
  • Acquired QB Joe Milton III and a 2025 seventh-round pick from the New England Patriots: in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round draft pick.

  • Acquired WR Kaiir Elam from the Buffalo Bills: in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick.

  • Acquired LB Kenneth Murray from the Tennessee Titans: in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick.
  • Acquired WR George Pickens and a 2027 fifth round pick from the Pittsburgh Steelers: in exchange for a 2026 3rd round pick and 2027 fifth round pick
Free Agency Signings:
  • Signed WR Parris Campbell .
  • Signed OLB Dante Fowler Jr. .
  • Signed G Robert Jones .
  • Signed RB Javonte Williams .
  • Signed DT Solomon Thomas .
  • Signed RB Miles Sanders .
Re-Signings:
  • Re-signed DT Osa Odighizuwa .
  • Re-signed WR KaVontae Turpin .
  • Re-signed RB Ty Johnson .
  • Re-signed G Brock Hoffman .
  • Re-signed DE Tyrus Wheat .
  • Re-signed S Juanyeh Thomas .
  • Re-signed CB CJ Goodwin .
  • Re-signed LS Trent Sieg .
  • Re-signed P Bryan Anger .
  • Re-signed S Markquese Bell .
It’s starting to look like the Cowboys may have a playoff team this year that could go far with some luck with injuries which every team needs.

Enjoy the season!
Nice Post Thank you

Rock. this is the same story, every few years you see the same thing and its wash, rinse, repeat. 30 years of history. vs. one off season to get you excited.

now, looking down the list of FA signing and resignings, I see a bunch of nobodies. nothing to really get excited about. some of them have been at the star, were let go and now back again!!!

and the resignings, are just as bad. the only one of value is Osa and he is league average or above average. the rest are meh!
and outside of pickens, which I didn't really care about that trade, the rest are meh as well. some on one year deals.

now, it looks like we signed a lot of people, but its also because we had to fill the roster as most were at the end of FA or had left for other teams (like Lewis).

this defense is got question marks everywhere, less in some areas than others. our safties suck. the CBs coming off major injuries. the LBs are nothing but question mark and we still don't have a proven 1-tech.

and we are still 3rd best team in the NFC east.

if all these changes you posted, don't get us to at least NFCCG, then its all same ole, same ole......

but jerry has done it again. generate hope, excitment among fans, to sell tickets. I bet attendance at camp will be high this year. merchendise will fly off the shelfs, and Pickens will sell jerry a ton of jerseys. and jerry is a happy man.
Serious question. If you say there’s no hope and never will be any hope, why are you here?

What does "stay healthy" mean?

No team "stays healthy". Every team loses projected starters for the year, and then loses other guys for chunks of the year... 4, 6, 8 games, etc.

You can proclaim us "Superbowl favorites, IF we stay healthy" every single year, and you'd never be wrong, because every team loses players
Thank you. That’s what some of us have been trying to teach your types.

Change in the air is just JERRY. He had a bad burrito. ;) . But seriously, you can see real effort by the Jones bunch. Looks like we are seeing what all in truly is. Unlike last year. The ire of one Jerry Jones is real, and we witnessed a man and what he's willing to do when he wants someone to suffer, in one MM. He allowed him to squirm, never truly offering any help. Yes, the Jones boys organically torpedoed the season in 2024.
I admit I have been hard on Ol Jerry and Son, but right now I Am actually praising the moves in free agency and an outstanding draft. Now here this Jerry is doing a good job at GM for a refreshing change. My congratulations to Jerry Jones well done.

I’m not a Jerry fan and blame him for almost all of the recent failures but to say he torpedoed the 2024 season shows you don’t know Jerry very well. Also, you must’ve not watched the games because whenever something bad would happen, the camera’s cut to Jerry and you could tell he was not only upset but shocked. So crap on him all you want because he deserves it but don’t embellish with nothing but your opinion which your stating as fact.

You gonna disappear again if the Eagles and Commanders have us pretty much dead to rights in October?

Not that I want it to happen or am rooting for that to happen, just want to know if you will listen to others who may disagree with your point of view after what happened last season. Not fair to talk with you if you are just going to walk away when the going gets rough. Especially after the "I am a better fan than you", "find another team", and "hater" wall of replies you loved to spew prior to your user name ending up on a milk carton.

All that said, I gave you a like for the optimism.
Listen to a brag show up...again? Cuffs and leg irons and then whisper walk away from supporting a football team. (coughing)

He supports his team and you are brave?

Thanks, Rockport...he has no clue of what a Wasp was about, much less the Cowboys. The last crash site was just recently located. They didn't become Veterans until the 1970's. Brag on...

Or homers....
I never made it past cowards...sorry. I will not lie, steal, or cheat...nor tolerate those who do. Air Force standard prior to my Army service. Nurses in Viet Nam prior to becoming officially Veterans.

Jerry has always been loyal to the good of his players and worked hard to make things to their real advantages. Standards in execution and sustainment were sport in origin, but human as well. His teams have always been competitive on the level of a sport and struggling for success. I respect that and the play. It's a tough sport and demands heart.

thirty years of mediocrity makes this post look bad

He does care about the players to an extent; depending on how he feels about them

But his ego and that of his son are the PRIMARY REASONS FOR IT ALL
and if you cannot admit that, then there is no hope for you at all

The cowards are the ones that keep whining and keep coming back with the tails tucked between their legs. Those became comical ans their is no hope for them, at all. But, they provide a good laugh. Jerry laughs all the way to the bank at their expense. Don't you feel bad for those guys?

This is basically what this fan's mind is following at this point in this off season:

Defensive Tackle (1-tech)

Who ends up being the Cowboys starting one-technique in 2025 will be something worth monitoring throughout the rest of the offseason. Mazi Smith hasn't delivered on his first-round draft status and could be in a head-to-head battle with rookie Jay Toia for the starting job. With new DC Matt Eberflus, neither player likely has an advantage over the other.

Defensive End (LDE)

With DeMarcus Lawrence exiting via free agency to join the Seattle Seahawks, the starting gig opposite Micah Parsons is up for grabs. This could be an interesting position battle to watch between Marshawn Kneeland, Donovan Ezeiruaku, Dante Fowler, and possibly Sam Williams. It should be really entertaining watching how this ends up playing out.

Linebacker

The Cowboys signed former Bears LB Jack Sanborn, reuniting him with Matt Eberflus to possibly start at MLB, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. They also traded for Kenneth Murray Jr. and added Shemar James via the draft to provide more competition and hopefully upgrade the LB position. But, who ends up starting where is still up in the air.
