So who/what is your idea to replace Dak?

Let's hear how much smarter than Jerry you are...
I think about Jerry, then I get my guitar.
F7...Bb7....F7.....C7...Bb7...F7...C7.....F7.
(guitar players only, the rest of you don't even know what you're missing).

Make my guitar sings sad good stuff to me about Jerry. The other guy your mentioned, I don't know, he has $4 and I'm not that dumb. Oh well, back to my gitfiddle.

You've got absolutely nothing but ignorant hatred. Just spewing names to try to sound intelligent, but you don't explain how to get any of those.
Nearly everyone on that list are on 1 year deals. Then there's the draft. Then we already have 2 of them on the roster. Then there's all those people that thought about playing QB in High School...

Anyone other than Captain Flopsweat and his anchor of a contract.

Uhhh, Hello??? How were any of those attainable prior to this 2o24 season? They all were under contract. Plus, it's too late now since Dak is fresh under a new contract with a no trade clause, thus making sure he will be in Dallas for the next 4 years.

Like I said, you've got absolutely nothing. Just spewing unattainable names to try to sound intelligent.

Nearly all were attainable and signed in the offseason by the team's they are on now. Just because Jerry was stupid enough to not pursue them doesn't mean they weren't available.

Anyway. This is about the future. Cut bait on the loser and move on with a cheap alternative and rebuild.

What do we mean by "successful"?

Win the Super Bowl?

Make it to the NFC championship game?

Double digit wins and the playoffs?

Better than this season?

The first thing it would take is the feeling that they are going in the right direction. They need a strong finish to this season.

Remember, only about 25% of the roster is going to be affected by veteran free agency, salary cap moves, and the NFL draft. The greater majority of next year's roster will be made up of current players.

The Cowboys will need to double dip into available talent pools and find two RB's capable of producing. Ideally, it might be a veteran free agent and a draft pick. They need to do the same for the O-line.

The key to a more successful season is the growth and maturity of the offensive line. That requires cohesion and teamwork. It requires consistent practice as a complete unit. This means, it also requires good health. Successful O-lines are composed of durable, hard working players.

Most of what the Cowboys need will be on offense.

As for the defense, they need to heal.

A 2nd season removed from their injuries will do miracles for both Diggs and Bland. The Cowboys could use a draft pick at CB for depth and perhaps also a competent veteran at a good salary.

My draft would be BPA, regardless. The Cowboys waste too much draft value by reaching for specific positions. They should just go through the draft naturally and get the best player left on the board.

It's not like there isn't a position on the team where the Cowboys didn't need some additional help.

So they were all signed for 1 year deals this past offseason? What a bunch of malarkey poppycock. As usual, all lies from the likes of you.

Did I say ALL? My God you're like arguing with a woman. Go and look at their contracts and let me know which ones weren't. I honestly don't care. I literally said anyone that thought of playing qb in High school too so you better look into that and make sure it was accurate.

You brought it up. You look it up! Do your homework next time before spewing such malarkey.

Yep. I'd literally rather have Quincy Carter or Ryan Leaf right now over Dak's contract. At least with those bad QBs you will only deal with them for a short term. You and your salary cap aren't married to them for 4 years like with Duck Prescott.

Hello Dak had a contract for 24 didn’t need anyone because Jerry wouldn’t cut him. There’s always mid tier QBs like Dak that come cheap, you can’t seem to understand a bum is doing pretty much the same as Dak, a jag bum so how hard can it be to replace 3-5 Dakchoka

You can't seem to understand that Dak is a yearly top 10 QB. The Cowboys had no better option that to resign him. If they had forced Dak to play out this last season, Dak would have left by season's end and left the Cowboys with absolutely nothing. Dak is here to stay for another 4 seasons. Choke on that!

In no particular order...

New offensive line coach with some recent chops. Zone running scheme,...tough hard nosed run game.

Draft another D.T high and sign one as well.

Draft another inside linebacker, another OLB too.

Draft another WR, sign one to replace Cooks.

Draft a true lead back,...1st round, second at latest.

Upgrade the offense with more motion,.... a lot more motion.

Sign some decent depth.

I am not a McCarthy hater, so if he stays I wouldn't totally be against it either. But yeah,...I would just as soon see him gone. Next head coach cant be a yes man,....he has to have a little fire in his belly or modern players will walk all over him. Wouldn't mind seeing Mike Vrabel brought in,...for my money he can bring Jim Schwartz to run the defense too.
Vrabel accomplished a lot for the hand he was dealt with the Titans,...never had an Uber talented team although he did have some great talent in spots like Derrick Henry. Tennessee has been known for quite some time as a team that doesn't spend in Free agency,...between that and a couple questionable drafts it kept them out of the super Bowl IMO.
In fact, Vrabel reminds me a lot of Dan Campbell,....but Campbell was given much more control.
Jerry is only hiring a yes man. Why do people continue to think otherwise ?

Great list of upgrades!
But, alas, if it were only as easy as that :)
Pick for specific need! Well, of course!
Keep in mind, visionary lad, not all draft picks work out. And when they do, it takes years.
Also, consider Yoda at the draft table.
We shall be lucky to get 1 immediately serviceable player and maybe 33-year-old DT.
Such is the state of our bleak 4 hears ahead.

Any rookie or a decent vet. Right now they're winning with a bum so Dak is not irreplaceable.
A lot of us suggested going after Russell Wilson earlier and basically letting Dak rot on the bench in the final year of his contract and use Wilson to bridge the gap until we can draft a franchise qb.

And the same posters ridiculing you in this thread ridiculed that idea relentlessly.

Meanwhile the Steelers got him for vet minimum ($1.2 million) this year.

6 starts he's averaging 270+ ypg. 10 TD, 3 int and a rating over 104.

Point being no matter what idea you bring to the table to replace the guy they think is irreplaceable, they'll dismiss it immediately and act like it's ridiculous and never own it when they are clearly proven wrong.

This idea that "if Dak can't do it nobody can" is basically a mental illness at this point. Just remind them we could have had Russ for a million bucks this year, but they and Jerry thought it would be better to pay Dak a guaranteed $231 million over 4 years. Then laugh like hell at them and move on.
