just got feeley, this means they are going to keep Brees and trade Rivers, I would love to see what it would take to get Phillip over here. Wouldnt trade a first, but maybe 2nd and al singleton :laugh2:

Wow. Although it doesn't necessarily mean they want to trade Rivers, it might be Brees. One of them is definitely gone before next season....

What would make you think their keeping Brees? Heck I'd think the oppsite. they now have a vet backup that can work with Rivers which makes Brees expendable IMO.

What did they give up? Remember, the Fins gave up a high 2nd for Feeley. And he's sucked.

I have no idea what they gave up, i think a draft pick, no idea which round. They were saying on nfl live that this probably means that Rivers is gonna be traded after the season.

They have made the decision that its gonna be Brees next year and therefore they can get some random guy who's capable enough to be an emergency qb to ride the pine behind Brees. I think if they were gonna go with Rivers he would be starting already. Brees is having a good year so far, enough to show them that he can do more of the same from last year. I think if they were trying to find a backup for Rivers, it would have been someone more capable. Feely has proven he is never gonna start and doesnt offer much assurance backing up a young guy in his first year of starting. the chargers are too good, to give up wins for the young qb.

Feeley isn't veteran enough to be a "mentor". He's a solid backup, but he hasn't been through it enough to be teaching anyone anything.

Rivers will be with a new team by next season.

I dont know, i really dont want any of them, i feel like we have some good QB's coming out in the next two drafts, and with Bledsoe playing real well he could be here for a couple more years.

The Chargers acquired third-string quarterback A.J. Feeley from the Miami Dolphins in a trade that also involved third-string Chargers quarterback Cleo Lemon, ESPN.com's John Clayton reported.

There was a draft choice involved in the trade but details weren't available. The deal happened as the NFL trade deadline came to a close.

The move to acquire Feeley signifies the Chargers intention to make a decision after the season between Drew Brees and Philip Rivers. Brees is a free agent after the season and he is the current starting quarterback. Rivers has four more years on his contract after the season.

I now officially think the Dolphins are complete idiots. They gave up a high 2nd for Feeley. Now they give up a 6th and Feeley for another backup.

My only question is this - why haven't we traded any of our junk to the Fins? I want in on this.

What a bonehead move... I agree... we need in on some of that fish action...

Rivers to Dallas would be awsome baby!

I 3rd that. But I have my doubts it will happen. Or they could shop Brees if they decide not to resign him since they only franchised him.

Brees is a Free Agent at the end of this year. (Per the FA thread Junk made.) Not sure if he is UFA or Restricted.

I can't believe a winning team would move their starter though. Strange move.

I don't think Brees is going to be let go, and I dont think we would even be interested in him anyways. I'm not a big fan of Brees though, ive seen him play for the past few years. I'd only be interested in Rivers.

This is going to be very intriguing....Brees has proved to be successful in this league. I'd be surprised if they moved him. Then Rivers has a lot of potential...hmmmmmm

That's one...the other is that I doubt Dallas gets in on this action becuase of how well Bledsoe is playing at 33. Rivers wants to play now...he won't next year with Bledsoe.

I posted an article some time back on Rivers and his thoughts on the off season. I will try to find it and post it into this thread.
