Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers LB Shawne Merriman feels he should have been the Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year over Miami Dolphins DE Jason Taylor. "If anybody can honestly say they've performed as well as I have while I've been on the field..." Merriman said. "You even take the four games away and I still outperformed a lot of guys." Merriman missed four games as a result of a positive steroids test. "I don't think it was my suspension that cost me the votes," Merriman added. "I think it's that I didn't play the full 16 games is what the people have something over me."

Thats what happens when you deal with dealers who sell illegal items.

Sometimes you get snubbed.

Yep I agree. He is such an idiot. Guy has no shame at all. Still insisting on the cacophony tainted supplements story. At first I bought it, but more I read about it, it seemed as likely as OJ simpson finding the real killer story.

They're creating his new jersey with his new last name on it as we speak. "Bitterman"

Try not to get suspended next year Bitterman.

Jason Taylor
62 tackles
13½ sacks
14 quarterback hurries
2 interceptions -- both returned for TDs
11 passes defensed
10 fumbles forced
2 fumbles recovered

Merriman cannot touch those stats.

SD 12-2
Miami 6-10

Taylor can't touch that one.

I noted in a thread the other day that the DPOY in the last 10 years came from a losing team once - and that was the year Strahan got the sack record. So best defended from the best team is always going to have a very very strong change.

Me, I would have voted for Taylor -- I think the writers were correct to not consider Merriman. But as I argued yesterday -- Merriman's 12 game stats - if he wasn't suspended - even if he did nothing at all in the other 4 games, would have likely earned him the award. Hell, he got 6 votes even with the suspension.

But saying that he was snubbed? That's just idiotic. He needs to shut up.

Kids, this statement is evidence not to use steroids because of how it affects your brain. Within a gigantic mind-boggling span of zero sentences, Merriman contradicts himself.

I would have voted for J Taylor because of Merrimans suspension combined with the great numbers that Taylor had this season. But I don't really like the DPOY going to a player on a losing team.

Hey Merriman, maybe if you were not juicing you would have got more votes, you think!!!

I am so glad that we passed on this loser, I would take Ware over Mr. Roids any day.

Somebody needs to put a hat on this freak of the week before his head explodes. I think the NFL should feel "snubbed" for the way he disregarded the substance abuse policy.
Shawn....you're a cheater, a liar, a self-absorbed over-paid pre-teen. Take all your barbie dolls and go home.
