On cow herd's show this morning as hinting that he wants his contract bought out by someone.
I don't normally listen to the guy but had to make a run to buy a new router this morning and tuned my car radio to ESPN.
Cowherd claimed that during some recent press conference Weiss, out of nowhere, made an unsolicited comment implying he wanted his contract bought out.
Cowherd said something like "look at the transcript of the interview/press conference, no reporter asked him about this, he just brought it up out of the blue". Or words to that affect.
Now Cowherd didn't say Weiss said an NFL team, but I assumed that was what he(Cowherd) was implying.
So consider the source and take it for however you value the guy's opinion.
IMO, Cowherd is a loudmouth looking to stir up trouble. It will be interesting to see if Weiss or ND respond.

Mods; I posted this here since Dallas is always considered a landing spot for Weiss due to the Parcells connections.

I'd be interested in Weiss taking over for Parcells. But this is ESPN, they pretty much can't get anything right about Dallas.

I think there is confusion. The paper in Providence RI says CW has a long term commitment to Notre Dame and was approached by some NFL teams but told them he has no interest, period, case closed.

The moronic Cow very RARELY gets anything right. CW has just told 2 separate teams -"Thank you for your interest. Now please leave me alone."

Thats what I have always heard.
But, apparently, he has a buyout clause in his contract that could be bought out and free him up. Ostensibly by some deep pocketed NFL owner.

Speculation without any supporting evidence is worth the north end of a southern bound jackass. I guess there are some people that think that money is everything and people will do anything for it; and some will. AND MANY WON'T.

$15 million is the current cost of buying out his contract. I do not see many teams really, when it comes down to writing THAT check, that will do it.

And butch davis was not leaving college and going to the Browns. I mean he said it multiple times so it had to be true.

I think you get the picture.

Now whether there is even a grain of truth about this cowherd guy saying is unknown.

But just saying that coaches in the past have said things that left no room for doubt about where they stand, and a few weeks later are signing on with another team.

So you think I'm lying to you? Sheesh. To be perfectly honest, I have better things to do than lie to people on an internet message board.

I am just saying that untill he takes an NFL job you are wrong. I happen to think that at best that is 4-5 years off.

Hmm...I don't know how you expressing your opinion, and burm expressing his...winds up to you being called a liar.

So he says you are full of crap, yet that is not the same as being called a liar, esp considering you were just offering an opinion and in know way could be swayed as fact.

Just something to consider.

Difference of opinion does not always equal being called a liar.

I could see Weiss being the hand picked successor of Parcells for himself however i was given the impression that Weiss is a Catholic boy who pretty much considers the Notre Dame gig his dream job.

Actually by your own opinions he is 100% correct.

He said you would keep denying it (aka not believe it will happen) until he is coaching in the NFL.

By what I have read you don't believe it, and don't seem to believe it...so in the end until he is coaching in the NFL you won't believe it.

Which seems to be what he said, and you are claiming he is wrong?

There was an article written a while back that pointed out that although Weis' contract does have a buyout provision if he wanted to leave for the NFL, it also has an "out" clause for ND is they wanted to get out of the deal because Weis' didn't continue his recent success.

So, ND/Weis is still a business relationship all the way around.

I admit, I don't think it will happen, but Weis is so close to Parcells and it would be such a smooth transition that it is possible.

We all remember Parcells saying that coaching the Cowboys was like playing the big room at Vegas, so, in the coaching world the Cowboy job isn't just another job.

Also, I know Weis has a lot of loyalty to ND for giving him his chance, but in reality I think the NFL is in his blood and he is too good of a coach to stay in the minor leagues. He should be coaching with the big boys in the NFL.

I got news for ya... discussion boards are driven by thoughts, guesses, predictions, speculation, opinions, league sources reports etc... etc... etc...
