If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Wade Phillips' son the "Quality Control Coach" when Wade was here? I think he even stayed on after his dad was fired. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Pretty sure every team has these guys, entry level position for teams. They do the dirty work of tracking plays and formations etc. and pass it along. He will not be part of the analytics team that MM wants to start up.
Pretty sure its a way for a lot of people who want to be involved in the NFL to get their start.
Goodell pretty much had this job at NFL offices - sorta - and MM held this when he broke in with Haslett's dad. No big deal....

There was a point several years ago where I realized a lot of teams had a "quality control coach", and I had the same reaction. I had no idea what they did, s i looked it up, and as I recall they are primarily entry level coaches who are charged with reviewing and analyzing game film and coming up with a statistical analysis of what other teams do in different situations.

And Garrett didn't have that? Why in the world not!?

I think they have had someone with that title under Garrett, but may not have had it the past year or two. Still, somebody performed those duties, whether they had that specific title or not.
