Stephen is making the $$$$$$$ decisions now.
Personnel decisions, too.
You took no time to give this thought uh. lol Dak is entering his 3rd season, hell they gave Romo 14 years. So what is Dallas to do cut Dak because you and some others don't think he can do the job? lol.
You guys are losing your minds lol. This isn't a Dak diss thread. My mistake, he mentioned Irving before. Irving is just not reliable, I don't want him on this team.
I'm not trying to be a smart *** but if this front office/coaching staff can't build a championship team while Dak is making pennies, what gives you confidence that they can do it when he's taking up 1/7th of the salary cap.

A year or two from now he could be taking up 1/7th of the salary cap, D-Law could be on another team, and the Irving experiment could be over. That's two elite players gone and a lot of financial flexibility lost (I realize we get some back by not letting D-Law go). The sense of urgency to win now should be at an all-time high.

Dude interchange any name for Dak. Jaylon Smith is going to take 1/7th of the salary cap. My point is above the financial flexibility we'll be losing, not the player. Like @Big_D mentioned above this is a golden opportunity we are missing. Seattle, Baltimore took advantage of this opportunity, winning super bowls while Flacco/Wilson were on their rookie deals.but if this front office/coaching staff can't build a championship team while Dak is making pennies, what gives you confidence that they can do it when he's taking up 1/7th of the salary cap.
Just seemed like it.
I'm sorry but I think the front office has done some good things in recent time, I see a defense that I expect will be much improved. I know one thing if this team fails the front office/coaches will take the blunt of it and I will not disagree but if they exceed expectation I know damn well those same critics will not give this front office/coaches credit.
I think that's lip service teams give to maintain a winning culture. In reality, teams like the Bills realize they are building for the future. But yeah I feel ya.Yes I realize that, but still teams go into the season...we are talented, if things go right we can with it all.
Well fans do that more than the teams I guess.
But if the teams and players can’t beleove they can win it all. Then they should not be in the business.
And I do know what you mean, just having some fun to be different.

The sense of urgency is always at an all time high. It’s the NFL. Haters will always constantly complain about the FOI'm not trying to be a smart *** but if this front office/coaching staff can't build a championship team while Dak is making pennies, what gives you confidence that they can do it when he's taking up 1/7th of the salary cap.

History.Who says they can't?
It's not hand wringing just discussing our probable near future. Everything I mentioned in the OP has a very high likelihood of occurring.
build a championship team

Meanwhile, Desean Watson......
Right now is when they should be using the money to bring in FAs and locking up good players, while your franchise QB is on his rookie deal. Once Dak gets paid, there won't be any money to make such moves. Thats what Seattle did, they locked up players and built around Wilson while he was on his rookie deal, and brought one SB and lost one.Dallas cap is in great shape and unlike many teams Dallas has not been busy shopping high priced FA. some of these guys will get extension and I think Stephon has a good ideal of how they will manage it.
Unrelated to the Dak situation, specifically, but it will be really interesting to see whether or not teams start to take a 'Moneyball' approach to QBs if their salaries continue to eat up more and more cap space. As a hypothetical example, in a bubble you could have signed players like Zack Martin and DLaw for nearly the same amount of cash Kirk Cousins just got (on an annual basis). Makes you wonder whether you're better off just throwing darts at the QB position until something hits (in the form of draft picks and cheaper FA signings a la Case Keenum), riding that player out until their first big payday, walking away with a comp pick, and starting over while allocating your cap towards other positions that might not come at such a premium.I'm not trying to be a smart *** but if this front office/coaching staff can't build a championship team while Dak is making pennies, what gives you confidence that they can do it when he's taking up 1/7th of the salary cap.
